Quickie: Beastie Boys Movie at Sundance
In 2004 the Beastie Boys handed out 55 cameras at Madison Square Gardens and collected footage for a concert movie. MCA then took a year to edit the darn thing and now the movie is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival. Awesome, I Fuckin' Shot That hits theaters March 31st. Source: Awesome, I Sat Through That. Quickie: Paul Wall & Expensive Tastes
Paul Wall and former Transplants Travis Barker and Rob Aston will debut their new group Expensive Tastes via mixtapes. The three came together as Expensive Tastes in September having collaborated last summer when Wall chopped and screwed a Transplants' album. No date is set for a more official release. Quickie: Unforgivable Diddy
In-store ads for Sean Combs' new fragrance Unforgivable have been deemed too controversial in some regions and will be replaced. Quickie: Little Brother Tour
North Carolina's Little Brother are set to embark on a tour with Fort Minor starting January 26th. The tour is the first in support of last year's release of The Minstrel Show. With Raekwon discussing his upcoming album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, due in the spring or summer, more word is getting out about the Wu-Tang reunion tour. Def Jam has released February dates for Wu-Tang shows beginning in Connecticut and working down to Florida, including Philly and New York. Quickies: Hip Hop Film Fest, NAACP Awards
Hip Hop Film FestUCLA's first Annual Hip Hop Film Festival and Conference occurs later this month in Los Angeles. Flicks will range from feature films to documentaries such as Style Wars and panelists will discuss hip hop history and culture. Performances are also scheduled at local venues. Reported to begin February 7th, the tour is expected to include all the members of the Wu-Tang Clan. If all goes well, this tour would be Wu-Tang's first since 1997.
