Celebrates Black Music Month in Atlanta
June 1-4th 2005

Atlanta-A stronger program format, bigger parties, a host of A-list music royalty, and a prestigious venue set in the heart of downtown Atlanta, promise to make the 3rd Annual Southeast Urban Music Conference the it event of summer 2005.

The 3rd Annual SUMC Urban Music Conference is set for June 1st-4th, as a celebratory tribute to Black Music Month. The Renaissance Atlanta Hotel Downtown will act as host to the 2005 conference and its participants. The move to the Renaissance located in central Atlanta, is giving the conference a new flair. Atlanta definitely has the bragging rights when it comes to networking opportunities in the music industry. If you look at the Billboard charts, you will see the south and especially ATL are well represented, says conference chairman, Tony Baraka.

The 2004 SUMC registration boasted over 650 participants and offered a variety of informative seminars focused on achieving success in the business of urban entertainment. Attendees included; artists, producers, managers, promotions professionals all hoping to learn more about the business from industry pros, and vying to network with some of the todays hottest talent.

Sean Mims, SUMC Marketing VP is certain attendees wont be disappointed with this years itinerary. Weve planned power packed seminars with information on distribution, how to secure sponsorships for touring, etc. The A&R and music publishing panels are sure to be invaluable to up and coming artists, writers and producers. And we have a whole list of other informative panels for those involved in management and promotions.

The Rising Stars/New Label Showcase Luncheon is returning and weve added a gospel music reception and seminar as well. There is a NeoSoul/R&B Lounge with live performances and a major closing pool party along with lots of other surprises, Mims says.

Past conference sponsors such as Heineken, BME Recordings, and Crown Royal aided in making the 2004 conference a huge success. Baraka expressed immense gratitude to those sponsors and also the participating record labels along with CompUSA, EMI, DefJam, Capitol, BMG, Jive, Warner Brothers and Sobe entertainment. Baraka insists that the artists are always the highlight of the conference. We had Rasheeda, Crime Mob, I-20, NIA, Trillville, the Big Omp Camp, Urban Mystic and many other up and coming artists. Those artists pitched in and made the 2004 conference a major event. We look forward to a bigger and more celebratory SUMC in 2005.
