UnAuthorized Entertainment and GigUrban are launching a nationwide search for America's hottest undiscovered rap, hip-hop and R&B talent
GigUrban will produce the 10-city showcase event series in markets throughout the U.S. in 2005 with one artist receiving a record deal from the Warner-distributed UnAuthorized Entertainment
The showcases will be co-produced by local hip-hop or event promoters in each market. Invited participants will be screened and selected through a music submission process administered by UnAuthorized/Asylum/Warner label reps and showcase production partner GigUrban. Aspiring artists are encouraged to visit www.GigUrban .com for submission guidelines and other details. The submission period will vary according to the Showcase schedule. Showcase dates and locations will be announced as they become available on the GigUrban Web site and various news sites later this month. The entire Showcase Series will run through May 2006.
"GigAmerica/GigUrban has been one of the premier independent music resources in the country," said UnAuthorized president and A&R executive Selim Bouab. "There are plenty of worthy artists."
"Unlike last years showcase series, this year we will have a clear winner. Someone is getting a record deal out of all this", said Prodigy the Houston-based national showcase coordinator for GigUrban. He added, "Last year we promised to put a major label A&R representative in rooms across the US and we did that. This year an artist will actually be signed at the Las Vegas finale."
Roughly 20 acts per night will be heard by UnAuthorized/Asylum/Warner A&R reps, who will fly from New York City to attend each of the 10 showcases. Announced cities that will host Warner Bros. Urban showcases include Boston, Virginia Beach, Charlotte, Birmingham, Montgomery, Jackson, Louisville, New Orleans, Orlando, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Memphis, San Antonio, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Columbus, Detroit, Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles. More cities may be announced later.
