BABYGRANDE RECORDS READIES DEBUT ALBUM BY DETROIT'S LAWLESS ELEMENT

Soundvision: In Stereo streets September 20th, featuring production
by J. Dilla, Madlib and Magnif with guest appearances by J. Dilla,
Diverse, Melanie Rutherford, Phat Kat, and more

Having laid the groundwork with their release of three critically
acclaimed and commercially well-received 12"'s throughout the past two
years, deeply rooted affiliates of Slum Village's core member Jay Dee
(aka J. Dilla) are preparing to drop their debut album, Soundvision:
In Stereo, on Raw Material/Babygrande Records on September 20th.

Featuring a wealth of collaborations including J. Dilla, Diverse, Phat
Kat, among others, and production by J. Dilla, underground fave Madlib
and Lawless Element's own rising superstar producer
Magnif, "Soundvision: In Stereo" reflects the convergence of jazzy
Tribe Called Quest-ish flavor with a soulfully edgy street
sensibility, serving as a notable introduction to Lawless Element's
distinctive musicality.

Having garnered a wealth of critical accolades, including 4 out of 5
stars from URB Magazine, Magnif (Lawless resident producer) is
already being inundated with requests for his production services.

Lawless Element will be premiering their video for the albums first
single, entitled Rules Pt. 2 (helmed by Purple City Byrdgang
director Carl Verna) within the coming weeks. Also look for Lawless
as the Featured Artist on OkayPlayer.com at the end of August.

WHAT PRESS HAS TO SAY ABOUT LAWLESS ELEMENT:

"4 out of 5 starsheavily influenced by the golden age sounds of De La
Soul, Pete Rock
and DJ Premier...12 top-shelf tracks...Lawless Element drive the lane
with a righteous vengeance."
--URB MAGAZINE

...Griot and Magnif ride their booty bass with that breathy on-beat,
off-beat flow...a funky listen."
--CMJ MAGAZINE

As the industry keeps the gap between the mainstream and underground
prevalent, it is rare to see a group like Lawless Element on an
independent label who can surpass these limitations.
