Deeyah Teams up with Rapper Young MayLay for New Single "What Will It Be"
Deeyahs new single "What Will It Be" features mixes by LA Rapper Young MayLay and mixes by the UK's very own JD. The New single is out in January 2006.
(PRWEB) November 4, 2005 -- Deeyah, who is known to her fans around the world as the Muslim Madonna has teamed up with LA rapper Young MayLay for her new single What Will It Be. The new track will be released early next year and will deliver a strong statement about Deeyahs beliefs regarding the rights of women from all faiths and cultures; their right to speak out about social issues, sexuality, empowerment and to lead their lives the way they choose without the fear of reprisals or judgment.
Deeyahs new video (shot in LA and India) features the images of many women who have tried to lead their lives with freedom of expression in the way they dress and speak. Every image in the video has a story behind it, and in some cases, with very shocking endings. The women featured in the video images include: Heshu Yones, Hatin Surucu, Ghofrane Haddaoui, Fadime Sahindal, Sonay Mohammad and Afghanistans only female TV music presenter, Shaima Rezayee who was forbidden to go to school and murdered on the 18th May 2005 - The Afghani Police believe the way of she dressed and how she presented her TV show. was the sole reason she was killed.
What Will it Be also features hot rapper Young MayLay, who in currently the lead character of Carl CJ Johnson in the ever popular game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. MayLay was born on the West Coast and raised in Los Angeles amidst the turbulence of riots and gang violence and has been cultivating his lyrical skills since a teenager.
The Sunday Times have predicted Deeyah as the next big thing and her next single has already been played on specialist shows on Kiss 100, BBC 1xtra and Radio 1. The new single also features a mix by the talented producer JD whose version is proving popular on radio and clubs alike.
Born in Norway and living between the UK and US, Deeyahs influences are varied and range from Madonna to Dr Dre to Metallica. She has spent the past year working with the legendary producer, Darin Prindle, who has worked with Destinys Child, TLC, Madonna, Jermaine Dupri, Boyz II Men and Usher. Deeyahs latest video is self directed with the aid of John Lindauer whose past clients include Lauryn Hill, Mary J Blige, Lisa Stansfield, and Christina Aguilera to mention a few.
