Monday Nite Fights to Determine the Freestyle King of the South

Monday Nite Fights, Dallas longest running hip-hop freestyle event, will have its championship battle June 2005 to name the next Southerun Freestyle King.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 28, 2005 -- Monday Nite Fights, Dallas longest running hip-hop freestyle event, will have its championship battle June 2005 to name the next Freestyle Sultan. Last years winner was Plato who walked away with a custom made boxing style belt complete with an engraved name plate.

Throughout the year emcees battle each other every Monday at the Monday Nite Fights event held at the Caribbean Bar and Grill. The emcee with the most wins at the years end earns a belt and the title of Freestyle Champ. They must then battle the previous champ to earn the ultimate title of Freestyle Sultan. As of yet, no female emcees have won the title but women are welcomed and encouraged to join the battle. In the event that a woman is crowned she will then be named the Freestyle Empress.

The show is hosted and ran by 97.9 FM The Beat morning show personality Headkrak with the internationally recognized DJ Phil on the turntables. The event is dedicated to showcasing established and up and coming rap talents and is focused on the true five elements of hip-hop. Emcees are judged by a crowd of their peers on whats in their head and how artistically well they can formulate their thoughts. In other words lyricism reigns supreme at MNF.

The weekly competition is open to all challengers with no fee to sign up. But to challenge the current King of the South and gain the title they must be the current Sultan or Empress. Battles with the current King/Queen can be arranged for out of towners and if they happen to win they gain bragging rights only.

MNF stands by its commitment to enrich the art of hip-hop by holding various campaigns throughout the year to educate and empower artists such as the MNF Literacy Campaign. Where such sponsors as Backbeat Books donates books on various aspects of the music business. In the past the event has been sponsored by Def Jam Recording, Elektra Records, BMG, EMI, Universal Records, XXL, King Magazine, Gamestop, Reebok, Elemental Mag as well as various clothing and gaming giants.

Bizarre of D12 to Release Solo Album Called Hannicap Circus - Single: "Rock Star" Produced by Eminem

Having delivered his brand of lyrical brilliance on D12s SoundScan-topping releases Devils Night(2001) and D12 World (2004), Bizarre is poised with Hannicap Circus, on Sanctuary Records.

(PRWEB) May 27, 2005 -- Artist Bio:

Bizarre
In these turbulent times of war, trashy reality TV, divided blue and red states, and cardboard politically correct censors, there is one man who can rise above the madness. There is a force willing to fight for the underdog and the downtrodden. Theres an individual who takes pride in being a role model for millions of kids in need of guidance in a violent and sex-obsessed world gone out of control.

Unfortunately, that man is Bizarre.

What else can be said for the weirdest member of Detroits notorious platinum plus hip-hop crew D12 (Dirty Dozen). Indeed, in past lyrical outbursts, Bizarre has boasted of engaging in S&M orgies with midgets, bumping off (late) comic actor John Candy, and mistakenly picking up transvestites in a drug-induced haze while recklessly wheeling a Harley Davidson.

Having delivered his brand of demented comic relief meets sicko lyrical brilliance on D12s SoundScan-topping releases Devils Night (2001) and D12 World (2004), Bizarre is once again poised to piss off the status quo with Hannicap Circus, his solo debut on Redhead Records/ Arsenal Entertainment/Sanctuary Urban. And while such a seemingly disturbing album title is bound to stir protest among P.C. enforcers, Bizarre maintains theres a more conceptual meaning behind the madness. I came up with the title because I really felt like most musicians that Ive been around are fucking weird, says the matter-of-fact rotund emcee. I know I have my little weird ways, so I consider myself a special artist. Im a guy that chews paper, wears a shower cap in public, pops Vicodin pills and goes fishing. Theres not a lot of entertainment out thereeverything is so hardcore, shoot em up bang bang. Im here to lighten up the hip-hop game.

Hannicap Circus finds Bizarre stepping out from the motley crew safety net of D12 members Eminem, Kon Artis, Swift, Kuniva and Proof. And according to the hip-hop wildman, its about damn time. His public fistfights for control over the Dirty Dozen against leader Marshall Mathers have become legendary in music industry circles (Marshall was just asking to be punched out, riffs Bizarre.) The ongoing rivalry picks up from where D12s 2004 hit My Band left off on his first single Rock Star. On the fast-paced Slim Shady produced track, Bizarre proclaims his dominance as an artist who has exceeded the likes of Elvis, The Osmonds, and Kiss combined. Who could argue? Im the man, the lead singer of the band, on stage for thousands of fans/I used to be a dancer for Hammer, if you look you can see me in the camera, Bizarre flips in his trademark husky flow.

On Bad Day, an hilarious reworking of Ice Cubes 1992 West Coast classic It Was A Good Day, Bizarre is backed by hip-hop producing legend Erick Sermon and unleashes a witty dose of off-centered story-telling. I gotta go because I got on flip-flops, if I slow down then my feet will drop/Had to stop at the red light, everybody laughing at my yellow dirt bike, says the dejected rapper. The brazen Gospel Weed (producer TK) proves that nothing is sacred in the warped mind of Bizarre. And the x-rated R&B fueled Porno Bitches, produced by D12s Mr. Porter and featuring fellow comedic rhymer Devin tha Dude and Outkasts own Big Boi, finds the deranged emcee claiming, I love porn, but niggas be hating/R. Kelly aint got nothing on the shit I be making.

In keeping with Bizarres unpredictable showmanship, Hannicap Circus maddening diverse range of collaborations, from stic.man of the politically conscious group Dead Prez to fellow offbeat Detroit emcee King Gordy, more than makes sense. But its the autobiographical coming-of-age tale Hip Hop (Hi Tek) and the heartfelt family dedication Coming Home (Raphael Saadiq) thats sure to surprise longtime Bizarre followers. Whenever I leave, I know it still hurt, he testifies over the latter soulful track that also features fellow D12 spitter Kuniva. The song, which conveys Bizarres pain of leaving his wife and kids behind for the pitfalls of the road, is a side of the man, born Rufus Johnson, rarely visualized in his music. The self-described eccentric family man, who now calls Atlanta home, says he wanted to use Hannicap Circus to show theres another side to his wildman persona.

A lot of the shit on Hannicap Circus was made for weed smokers, Bizarre freely admits. But when Im not rapping, Im in Atlanta or Michigan fishing with my homeboys. I try to stay as normal as possible to keep myself grounded around my family. When D12 goes on tour its so wild. I like to go home and take the trash out to remind myself who I am.

For Bizarre, hip-hop remains a vital fix for the wide-eyed 80s kid who worshiped rap royalty EMPD and KRS-One. Raised by his mother in a strict but loving Jehovahs Witness household, young Rufus spent most of his early childhood shuttling back and forth from Texas to Detroit. By age 10, writing rhymes had become an obsession. Talent shows were an outlet well suited for the quirky, imaginative kid from Detroits 7 Mile. However, at 18, an independent Bizarre moved out of the religious constraints of home to follow his dream of a recording deal.

What followed is hip-hop history: The life-altering, early 90s meeting with Motown freestyle king Proof and a lyrical white kid named Eminem; the daily struggles to be heard in a city not known for having a burgeoning hip-hop scene; the legendary rap battles for rhyme supremacy at the now iconic Hip Hop Shop; the untimely shooting death of beloved member Bugz. No one ever said it would ever be easy.

Everybody knew who the dopest emcees in Detroit were, he confidently recalls of his early battle-rap days. Once we found the chemistry was so sweet we just decided to leave the other groups we were in and make D12 the main focus. But during that time we went through a lot of shit. I ended up sometimes sleeping in my car just trying to be put on.

Following Bizarres 1998 solo contract with independent Detroit label Federation Records which produced his aptly-titled underground assault Attack Of The Weirdos, D12 set their sights on bum rushing the national hip-hop stage. And a high profile Eminem recording deal with West Coast rap godfather Dr. Dre was just the opening D12 needed, as the crew eventually signed to Shady Records. Yet even after massive album sales, sold-out tours, and the pre-requisite spoils of partying and drugs, Bizarre wanted more.

He told his managers Max Gousse and Jeremy Geffen of his aspirations of becoming bigger than Young MC. A 2005 meeting with the Mathew Knowles-headed Sanctuary Urban Records Group was set. The perplexed yet impressed label promptly signed Bizarre through Geffen and Gousses Arsenal Entertainment and the four went on to executive produce Hannicap Circus. With this album, Im focusing on me, he suggests with superstar swagger. We had more control of what we are doing, with this deal. It was like, Do I want to go to a large conglomerate label and sit around four years or do I want to go to a smaller label like Sanctuary and be the biggest thing that walks through the door?

And theres more ahead. This summer Bizarre and D12 are going out on the blockbuster Anger Management 3 Tour with 50 Cent, G-Unit, Eminem and Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz. With the release of Hannicap Circus Bizarre is set to begin his reign as the only emcee that matters. Hip-Hop will always be in my blood, the stout rhymer proclaims with a laugh. But now I got all the hoes and Im doing all the shows, making all the money Im a rock star now!

LOS ANGELES, May 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (NASDAQ:SBSA) today announced the re-branding of KXOL-FM in Los Angeles as the new "Latino 96.3."

Latino 96.3 is designed to be "the" station for young Hispanic Angelenos between the ages of 18 and 34. The quantifying/qualifying moniker "Latino" serves the dual purpose of proudly proclaiming the cultural identity of the station's huge base of loyal listeners as well as that of the station's ownership and management. It is an intended rallying cry for unity from a community that is today a dominant force not only in Southern California but also throughout the United States.

Latino 96.3 will highlight Reggaeton, an upbeat music genre with roots originating almost 20 years ago in Panama and Puerto Rico that's fast becoming the hottest new musical trend among Spanish - speaking audiences throughout the world. The music mix also includes hip-hop elements appealing to young Hispanics in Los Angeles.

On-air featured Reggaeton artists include Daddy Yankee, Ivy Queen, Don Omar, and Tego Calderon as well as Spanish hip-hop artists such as Pitbull and local Los Angeles groups Ozomatli, Crooked Stilo and Akwid.

As part of its on-air kickoff campaign, the new Latino 96.3 will guarantee sixty minutes of continuous music, all summer long. SBS will also immediately commence a nationwide talent search for its new live 24/7 on-air staff.

"It's exciting to target the Hispanic youth of Los Angeles, which also happens to be a majority of this market's radio listeners", commented David Haymore, Vice-President/General Manager of Latino 96.3. "It's about time the country's number one radio market has a station that features this unique mix of music for these listeners," added Mr. Haymore.

Latino 96.3 will also benefit from SBS' radio presence in Puerto Rico, which includes an intimate relationship with core Reggaeton and Latin Hip Hop artists through its recently launched "Reggaeton 94" FM network on the island. SBS radio stations WSKQ-FM in New York and WXDJ-FM in Miami also feature a regular staple of Reggaeton acts.

The new Latino 96.3 represents the latest programming innovation from SBS - the nation's largest Hispanic-owned media entity - and the most recent embodiment of its core commitment to serving the growing U.S. Hispanic market. America's Largest Personal Injury Law Firm Merges With America's Largest Criminal Defense Firm

LOS ANGELES, May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cochran Firm, founded by famed attorney Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr., and one of America's largest personal injury plaintiff's law firms, has announced it will combine its practice with Imhoff and Associates, one of the nation's largest and foremost criminal defense firms. The firm will continue to be known as The Cochran Firm.

Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. had the unique legal career of handling some of the nation's most significant cases in both civil and criminal law. His career included a position in the criminal defense division of the City Attorney's office in Los Angeles, serving as the Assistant District Attorney for Los Angeles County, as well as litigating civil and criminal cases in private practice. Johnnie's strength in the courtroom was his dedication to his clients and their protection within the judicial system.

The Cochran Firm-Criminal Defense Section will handle cases in Federal, State, Juvenile and Appellate courts in all 50 states. The attorneys of The Criminal Defense Section will remain committed to handling cases involving most types of criminal charges and employ a team of attorneys, case managers, case analysts, research specialists and investigators who are dedicated to the successful representation of their clients.

Vince Imhoff, Managing Partner of The Cochran Firm-Criminal Defense section, states: "I am privileged to be carrying out Mr. Cochran's legacy. I have devoted the entirety of my legal profession to helping individuals charged with crimes, enabling them to achieve justice in the legal system. I will commit myself and our attorneys to upholding Mr. Cochran's reputation of providing quality service to people in need of legal representation."

Although the O.J. Simpson trial brought Johnnie national recognition, he was accustomed to representing many high-profile clients. In the 1980's, rape charges were dismissed against football star Jim Brown, and TV star Todd Bridges was acquitted of attempted murder, voluntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon. Johnnie also defended mega-star Michael Jackson against charges of child molestation, and the late rapper Tupac Shakur, who was acquitted of weapons charges.

Johnnie and his firm continue to be some of the most respected and sought- after lawyers in America. He successfully defended hip-hop star Sean "Puffy" Combs, boxing champion Riddick Bowe, rapper Snoop Dogg and basketball star Latrell Spreewell.

The Cochran Firm's civil case history includes numerous record-setting, multimillion dollar verdicts and settlements including a $700 million judgment and settlement for victims of environmental pollution, and a recent $1.6 billion verdict for a client against an insurance company for breach of contract and fraud. This historical verdict, obtained by Senior partner, Jock Smith, was the largest verdict in the U.S. for the year 2004.

In March 2005, Johnnie Cochran died at the age of 67. More than a celebrity lawyer, he had made an impact on the American justice system. He was relentless in his efforts to make a difference in the community and the lives of the clients he represented.

Bizzy Bone Does it "For the Fans"

Grammy Award-winning rapper Bizzy Bone is set to release his new album, "For the Fans", exclusively online at www.BizzyBone-ForTheFans.com

(PRWEB) May 26, 2005 -- Grammy Award-winning rapper Bizzy Bone is gearing up for his latest online release, "For the Fans", a six-track collection of songs created exclusively for his fans in association with the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony online forum BTNHBoard.com at the website www.BizzyBone-ForTheFans.com.

Bizzy Bone, a member of the multi-platinum rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, won a Grammy Award in 1997 for his part in the Billboard Hot 100 #1 single "Tha Crossroads. Since then, he has released a number of highly successful solo albums, including the gold-selling "Heaven'z Movie" (1998) and the critically acclaimed "The Gift" (2001). In addition to his solo career, he has delivered three more albums with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, with a new project in the works slated to be released later this year.

On "For the Fans", Bizzy delivers his trademarked fierce and quick-tongued style on tracks such as "Babylon" and "Who Tha Thug", while taking it down a notch for the LL Cool J-inspired number "Have You Ever Been Lonely?" and "A Letter", delving into his personal and spiritual life. Bizzy also experiments with an unusual, almost sermon-like style of rapping on the song "Priceless" and switches it up on the orchestra-laced "Clockwise."

"For the Fans" is available for purchase exclusively at www.BizzyBone-ForTheFans.com and is being pressed in a limited one thousand-copy run. The first one hundred fans to order the album have had their names printed in the album's booklet.

The members of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony are no strangers to the online music community. In 2003, member Krayzie Bone released his album "The Legends" under his alias LeathaFace on BoneThugRecords.com. In 2004, Bizzy Bone released "The Beginning and The End" on BizzyBoneMusic.com.

Bizzy Bone's latest album, "Bone Brothers", a duet with fellow Bone Thugs-n-Harmony member Layzie Bone, has sold more than 60,000 copies since its release in February, backed by the single "Hip Hop Baby", which also featured Krayzie Bone.

For the Fans is scheduled to be released on June 7th, 2005.

Stan Lee/POW! Entertainment Partners With VIBE

Urban Cartoon Character to Launch in 2006

LOS ANGELES, May 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- VIBE Magazine and POW! Entertainment are proud to announce an exclusive partnership to create an urban superhero. The relationship will be the first of its kind for VIBE, which is aiming to increase its brand beyond print while still leveraging the magazine.

POW! Entertainment, which specializes in new characters and franchises by Stan Lee, strategically works to develop characters through its relationships and alliances for funding and distribution of these new franchises. VIBE has been the preeminent force in urban magazines since its inception in 1993. A mutual relationship paired famous comic book creator Lee with the magazine, and the concept of the ultimate urban superhero was born.

The urban character, which is in the development stage, could be the next Spider-Man or X-Man, contemporary and universally liked by all but targeted to the 15- to 34-year-old comic book, video game, and action-hero lover. The character will be marketed as an action hero and will grace the pages of VIBE, as well as having its own graphic novel. Creators will take the animated character to DVD, television, and to feature film. VIBE President Kenard Gibbs states, "We are very excited about this endeavor and branching VIBE outside the magazine arena. The hip hop consumer is into animation, DVDs, magazines, and other media, and we wanted to find a way to extend the VIBE brand by offering a new product." VIBE Editor-In-Chief Mimi Valdes adds, "I can't wait to hear how VIBE fans respond to the character! This is going to be a big draw to the magazine. Besides our readers looking forward to our feature articles, they can also follow the adventures of our superhero."

"I'm as excited as a kid with a new toy to be able to create a unique, exciting, urban superhero for a magazine that I respect as much as VIBE," says Stan Lee. "No one understands or talks to the urban market better than VIBE, and this is a golden opportunity for me to introduce a new, colorful superhero that the urban community can embrace as its own without resorting to typical ghetto cliches or stereotyping. Following the formula I know best, our first stop will be the pages of VIBE magazine, while our ultimate destination will be movies, TV, and DVDs. I can't wait to get started."

POW!'s COO Gill Champion says, "The partnership with VIBE will provide the opportunity to introduce and market a new superhero who will have wide appeal combining the strong fan base of VIBE subscribers with the universal impact of Stan Lee's brand. We believe the new superhero will have the potential to attract all the possible ancillary opportunities that support a Stan Lee franchise in building a powerful brand."

VIBE's strong branding and advertising in combination with POW!'s expertise gives the magazine the credibility it needs to launch the character in early 2006. VIBE and POW! will jointly own the franchise and play to their respective strengths: VIBE's uncharted access to the urban market and Stan Lee's creative skills.

Founded in 1993 by music legend Quincy Jones, VIBE magazine is the preeminent brand in urban music and culture. With a guaranteed circulation of 850,000 readers, VIBE, a monthly, reaches an audience of more than 8 million. Published by VIBE/Spin Ventures LLC, a leading music/lifestyle media company that also publishes Spin magazine, VIBE won a National Magazine Award for General Excellence in 2002. The win marked the first time a magazine with a primarily black readership won in the General Excellence category. VIBE was once again nominated for General Excellence in 2004.

POW! (Purveyors of Wonder) Entertainment, Inc. was founded by world famous comic book icon Stan Lee, together with Gill Champion and Arthur Lieberman. POW!'s principals combined, have more than a hundred years experience creating, producing, and licensing original intellectual properties. POW! specializes in franchises for the entertainment industry, including animation and live-action feature films, plus television, DVDs, video games, merchandising, and related ancillary markets, all of which aid in the establishment of global franchises. POW! partners with studios and networks in creating new and exciting characters that will perpetuate the brands of both POW! and Stan Lee. In some cases, POW! creates "custom-tailored" properties for a specific star or director.

Stan Lee, chairman and chief creative officer of POW!, is the creator and inventor of the modern superhero. A prolific author, Lee revolutionized the comic book industry by creating compelling characters who, despite extraordinary powers and talents, are nonetheless plagued by the same doubts and difficulties experienced by ordinary people. Some of his most enduring characters, like Spider-Man(R)(a), The Hulk(R)(a), and the X-Men(R)(a), have been spun off into television programs and feature films that have grossed hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office.

Superstar Nelly Assembles All-Star Line-Up for the Longest Yard Soundtrack

In Stores May 24th

Soundtrack Features D-12 featuring Eminem, T.I., Lil Wayne, Murphy Lee, Akon, David Banner, St. Lunatics' Ali, Goodie Mob's Gipp And More

NEW YORK, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Records artist and Derrty Entertainment CEO Nelly is adding to his stature as hip hop's most prolific/multi-talented superstar with the release of The Longest Yard soundtrack. The upcoming soundtrack for the highly-anticipated movie, in which the versatile rapper makes his motion picture debut as an actor, hits stores on May 24th and the movie will be in theaters on May 27th.

For the soundtrack, Nelly assembled an all-star line-up of popular artists such as D-12 featuring Eminem, the platinum-selling St. Lunatics' ace Murphy Lee, Lil Wayne, T.I., St. Lunatics' member Ali & Gipp, of Goodie Mob, Akon and David Banner. The soundtrack also showcases new talent signed to Nelly's Derrty Entertainment imprint including Jung Tru (pronounced "young true") and King Jacob (who are featured on the lead single, "Errtime"), and other up-and- coming artists with strong regional followings such as the Ohio-based duo 216 and the Texas "mix-tape king," Chamillionaire.

Nelly holds down the executive producer mantle on the 13-song disc, adding another feather to his Derrty Entertainment entrepreneurial crown, which currently includes his clothing lines Vokal and Applebottoms, an energy drink called Pimp Juice, and a sold-out U.S. tour. Still sizzling from his most recent record-breaking double multi-platinum releases Sweat and Suit, Nelly's Midas touch continues on the first single from The Longest Yard soundtrack, "Errtime," produced by Jazze Pha.

Nelly co-stars in the remake of the 1974 comedy The Longest Yard with an all-star cast that includes Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and Burt Reynolds. In his first major movie role, he plays a convict/football player named Earl Megget. The Longest Yard is the story of pro quarterback Paul Crewe (Adam Sandler) and former college champion and coach, Scarborough (Burt Reynolds), who are doing time in the same prison. Asked to put together a team of inmates to take on the guards, Crewe enlists the help of Scarborough to coach the inmates to victory.

Nelly is currently on the Sweat/Suit Tour with Fat Joe, T.I. and the St. Lunatics, and will launch an international tour later in the summer.

More Information On The Soundtrack

The soundtrack's unique lineup makes full use of Derrty Entertainment's knack for scouring talent as well as Nelly's keen ability to draw other superstars into the collaborative fold. The disc features up-and-coming Derrty forces like Jung Tru and King Jacob on the explosive "Errtime." King Jacob, who also appears with Derrty vet Murphy Lee and newcomer Prentiss Church on "Stomp," first gained notoriety on the Training Day soundtrack (2001), with his collaboration with The Professor on "Let Us Go." Hailing from St. Louis, he also appeared on Ali's 2002 debut album Heavy Starch, and is featured with St. Lunatic alumni Murphy Lee on "Jungle Gym," from DJ Envy's The Desert St orm Mix Tape: Block Party Volume 1. King Jacob is also featured with Nelly on "Da Grind," from the classic Nellyville disc (2002), and has toured extensively with Nelly and the St. Lunatics.

Jung Tru is one of the founding members of the burgeoning hip hop trio Taylor Made. Born in University City, Missouri, he credits influences such as N.W.A, Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. for inspiring his love for hip hop. An accomplished piano player, Tru wrote the hook for Taylor Made's buzzed-about anthem "Whirlwind." The two other members of Taylor Made, rappers Ghost and Gube, join Jung Tru and Nelly on another blistering track on the album, "Datz My Mama," produced by David Banner.

Prentiss Church("Stomp") has an extensive underground resume, and was featured on Murphy Lee's platinum selling album, Murphy's Law. Lee, one-fifth of the hip hop arsenal that helped forge the entire Derrty empire - the St. Lunatics - is one of the signature artists in the Derrty camp. The multi- tasking Ali is a key contributor to the soundtrack himself, teaming up with Goodie Mob star Big Gipp, with the duo featured on the raucous "Let 'Em Fight," produced by noted hip hop producer Fury. Ali & Gipp have also joined forces to make a new album for Derrty Ent./Universal, the appropriately titled Kinfolk, and will release the new disc later this year.

Hip hop's mix-tape/underground faction is also well represented on The Longest Yard soundtrack, with Atlanta underground hero T.I. blowing up "Bounce Like This," and the Texas mix-tape king, Chamillionaire, collaborating with superstar producer David Banner (Nelly, T.I.) on the rippling "Talking That Talk." Houston mix-tape artist Chamillionaire recently signed with Universal after being pursued by several major labels. Famous for his cutting elocution and 'dirty south' no-holds-barred style, his breakthrough CD Get Ya Mind Correct helped put the North Houston hip hop scene on the map.

Established stars are also fully accounted for on the soundtrack with the infectious Lil' Wayne bringing up the Jazze Pha produced "Shorty Bounce," and Akon - whose current smash single "Lonely" is soaring to the top of the charts - trading verses with Blewz on "So Fly." The Eminem-launched D12 also put in a rousing effort with "My Balls."

The Chicago Community Hip-Hop Summit at Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, in Chicago, IL., July 8th 10th 2005

E.T.H2.E.R. Or Education Through Hip-Hop Entertainment Resources is the principle that utilises actual live performances in comedy, poetry (the Spoken Word), fashion shows, and music to teach the artistic side of HIP-HOP culture. This principle is also utilised through the presentations given during classes and workshops on HIP-HOP artistic expression.

(PRWEB) May 23, 2005 -- The Education Through Hip Hop Entertainment Resources in association with RA RA Entertainment, Heated Magazine, New City Outreach Ministries International, Branch Recordings, BB Media Global Group & Diva Day DesignZ, presents the Chicago Community Hip-Hop Summit.

Since the new millennium began our communities have been plagued with crime, violence, murder, racial tension, negative police/community relations, and numerous ongoing protest in the form of boycotts, marches and even riots. This once "most livable" city is now caught in the gloomy, problem filled shadows of metropolis like New York, Detroit, Oakland and Newark. Poverty, increasing high school drop out rates, a shrinking job market, homelessness, the crack cocaine epidemic, and the plague of HIV & AIDS are devastating our communities. Our city and future are in grave danger because our children are more at risk today than ever before.

The Summit will implement three programs to help others learn about HIP-HOP. We will implement three interactive programs, E.T.H2.E.R. (Education Through Hip-Hop Entertainment Resources), H.I.P.-H.O.P. (Health Is Power-Healing Our Peers), and J.C.T.V (Jr. CinCity Teen Voices) (Cincity = Community Inner City).

The Summit, through the implementation of the three programs, will provide valuable information, references and resources on HIP-HOP culture and music to everyone that attends. One goal of the Summit is to create a high level of positive energy that will elevate our political & social awareness, identify means of economic growth & development, and foster a better climate for improved race relations based on mutual respect, truth, justice and equality.

Sunday July 10th, 2005, will be geared towards Gospel led by Apostle Byron E. Burke. Possible special guest speaker: Pastor Fredrick K.C. Price Jr. of Crenshaw Christian Center (www.faithdome.org)

Sean John New POS/Inventory System, High-Powered Functionality Combined with Sleek Design

Mens sportswear icon, Sean John, teams up with retail systems developer, One Step Data, Inc., to build a POS/inventory system capable of handling the labels explosive growth

by Jim McMahon

With 2004 sales exceeding $300 million, Sean John, the worlds fastest growing line of mens contemporary sportswear, is a creative and marketing force to be reckoned with, to say the least, particularly since the label has only been in existence since 1998, and the line is sold through almost 2,000 wholesale distribution points in the U.S. In August 2004, Sean John opened its first retail outlet on New Yorks prestigious Fifth Avenue, with an aggressive expansion planned over the next 18 to 24 months. To deal with the logistics of this explosive growth, Sean John implemented a state-of-the-art POS and inventory control software system, teaming up with retail systems integrator, One Step Data, Inc., that not only handles the labels needs functionally, but in typical Sean John style, is also an industry showpiece.

Sean John, under the direction of Sean John Combs, alias "Puffy" and "P. Diddy", is geared to men ages 15 to 40, consisting of a complete range of lifestyle sportswear and accessories: denim, collection clothing, dress shirts neckwear, outerwear, leather goods, belts and bags, along with a full boys sportswear and clothing line. Later this year, womens collection, mens fragrance and mens footwear will be launched with great fanfare. The signature collection is produced four times a year and has quickly grown from an urban label to an international brand. The line is carried by finer department stores and specialty chain stores, such as Bloomingdales, Macys, Belks, Carson Pirie Scott, Bernini, and Nordstroms. In June of 2004, the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards held in New York, voted Combs the top menswear designer of the year for his eponymous collection.

"It is Puffys dream to have a global lifestyle brand," says Charles Soriano, Vice President of Retail for Sean John. "We have been a wholesaler since our inception seven years ago, and we continue to expand across all channels."

"The Sean John denim line is our bread and butter, with an average price point of $75," continues Mr. Soriano. "This price range encompasses a wide scope of contemporary clothing - for instance blazers, wovens, knits, t-shirts and outerwear, all for men. We also have Sean John Collection, which is more luxurious, with an average price of $175. Price points range from $125 for wovens to $595 for outerwear, and everything in between. Collection has a limited distribution, however, that was launched just last fall."

"Additionally, the opening of our first store has exceeded projections," Mr. Soriano says. "This is the first of a planned 12 -15 stores that we will be opening within the next several years."

Clearly committed to the expansion and growth of the mens marketplace and maintaining a dominant position within it, the company understood the necessity to have a comprehensive and reliable logistics system for the warehousing, inventory, distribution and retail sales management operations for the product line.

Sean John began by purchasing a state-of-the-art POS unit from IBM, the SurePOS 563. This is a very sophisticated system. Additionally, Sean John wanted a POS station look that was sleek and sexy. Each terminal has a flat, low-profile touch screen, so the POS terminals do not stand out, but blend in attractively. It fit their requirements not only for functionality, but also for aesthetics.

For the software, Sean John was looking for a well-rounded application that could not only handle POS at the store, but could also handle inventory management for the warehouse, and perform merchandise analysis. After reviewing a number of options, they selected retail systems developer, One Step Data, Inc., to configure a system to meet their requirements utilizing Retail Pro POS/inventory software. Retail Pro is the most widely used and adopted retail management software for small- to medium-sized specialty retailers throughout the world. And, One Step Data is the biggest worldwide solution provider for Retail Pro.

"We went with the Retail Pro Merchant Edition , which is their full application," explains Mr. Soriano. "We also acquired the Retail Pro Extension Suite developed by One Step Data, which offered an extensive menu of expanded CRM-type applications, features like customer mapping and Zip Code analysis. I have worked in the industry for some time and have used many retail management programs, and I believe that customer loyalty modules are tantamount to a successful business. We like to know exactly where our customers are coming from, and what they are buying."

"Understanding who your customers are, what they want and how they buy is crucial information for any retailer if they want to grow their business," continues Mr. Soriano. "That has always been a challenge retailers have faced in this business - collection of information, and understanding how to configure and manipulate your system to get the numbers that you need to analyze your business, your situation, and the ability to access that information easily. This capability is valuable to a retailer."

The Retail Pro Merchant Edition installed for Sean John provides point of sale, inventory control, and customer relations functions, as well as additional special functions. Point of sale: POS cash drawer and receipt functions; integrated credit card processing; instant customer data; layaways and special orders; item quantity and price lookup; and POS summary reports. Inventory control: stock on hand, in transit, and on order; purchase orders, receiving and ticketing; inter-store transfers and distribution; open to buy forecaster; flash query online analysis, graphs and multi-media; pricing and markdowns; reports; and physical inventory. Customer relations: customer lists and mailings; preferred customer pricing; gift registry, mail order and catalog. Special functions: electronic data interchange (EDI); employee and commission tracking; accounting link; multi-store management tools; new-! or small-store option; data interchange to any other system; international retail capacity.

The One Step Data Extension Suite for Sean John provides additional CRM features that enhance and expand the above functions. Extension Suite enhanced CRM functions: automated price levels; no tax promo; gift receipt printing; phone number formatting; Zip Code tracking; receipt ship-to customer; customer mapping; return enhancements; receipt custom comments; bulk emailing; and suggested sales prompt.

Also included in the set-up for Sean John is an Integrated Payment Processing Module (PPM) to streamline the POS environment. This allows for a sales associate, at the point of sale, to swipe a credit card directly through the terminal. It is actually integrated through the PPRS system, instead of having a separate, free-standing card terminal.

"The POS/inventory system that One Step Data put together for Sean John is state-of-the-art when it comes to versatility and functionality," says Scott Kreisberg, President of One Step Data. "The Extension Suite, for example, provides customer loyalty functions for the mid-sized retailer that cannot be found anywhere else, applications that can give a retailer a decisive competitive edge in their market."

"We worked closely with Sean John to design the exact system requirements that they needed," Kreisberg continues. "Sean John system was designed for scalability and growth. It works superbly for their one-store and inventory operations now, but is also completely versatile in application within a multiple-store architecture, which, of course, they are planning to develop. As a retailers needs change, the software also allows for us to provide custom programming. So, in essence, working from the basic Retail Pro model, we can customize to any retailers specific circumstances at any time. This provides for a high level of flexibility in future design modifications for Sean John."

The retail apparel market has always been fast moving, extremely competitive and studded with brilliant designers. For those that are striving to streamline costs, reduce shrinkage, capture more market share, or just hold on to what they have, inventory and POS logistics precision has become a vital organizational component in the mix. Sean John has embraced this concept, as Mr. Soriano indicates, "We feel that this system has not only serviced our needs well on the retail operations side, but has also serviced our needs on the financial end with a strong return on investment." The One Step Data, Retail Pro system will undoubtedly provide a stronger base for Puffy to capture even more market share in 2005 and beyond.

One Step Data services over 1,000 clients, many of them in the mid-tier retailing market. For more information on their POS/inventory Retail Pro solutions and support for retailers, please contact Kevin McAdam at One Step Data, Inc., at 320 West Arden Ave., Suite #110, Glendale, CA 91203; 818-543-4777; Fax 818-242-8599; email kmcadam@onestepdata.com; or visit their web site at www.onestepdata.com

Lil' Wayne's Young Money Camp Gets Stronger

Lil' Wayne adds fifth member to the Young Money camp, Dizzy aka Raw Di, formerly of Sqad Up.

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 22, 2005 -- As if the Young Money camp wasnt crazy enough with Maine, Curren$y and Boo, Lil Wayne has decided to add a fifth member to the group.

Dizzy aka Raw Di has been added to the line up to complete the formula of the Young Money atom bomb ready to destroy the game at all costs. Dizzy is a native of New Orleans, from the 9th Ward, not far from Wayne and YM member Maine and was an original member of Sqad Up. After Wayne disbanded the group, he and Dizzy found themselves ironically working with the same DJ, Raj Smoove and ended up resolving their differences. Wayne knowing Dizzys talents, asked him to join his label and the next movement, Young Money. Dizzys style is more of a hardcore street lyricist, bringing a rawer aspect to the camp, hence his name. He will appear on the next YM mixtape and on their highly anticipated album dropping in October.
