RED Distribution and Houston based Wreckshop Records have reached an exclusive distribution agreement effective immediately.

Wreckshop was formed in 1997 by ambitious founder and visionary Derrick Dwreck Dixon.

In the late 90s Dixon met a Houston area MC by the name of Fat Pat, already a member of the infamous Screwed Up Click, a Houston based collective led by the legendary DJ Screw. In the summer of '98 Wreckshop released Fat Pat's debut album Ghetto Dreams selling over 200K units. Unfortunately, Pat was killed before he could enjoy the record's success. Michael Franti Hosts Power to the Peaceful Festival - Music, Community and Justice September 10

Free music/community/arts festival Power To The Peaceful, hosted by musician/activist Michael Franti to take place in San Francisco on September 10, 2005.

San Francisco (PRWEB) August 18, 2005 --- On Saturday, September 10th 2005, visionary musician, filmmaker and human rights worker, Michael Franti along with his band, Spearhead and Guerrilla Management present the 7th Annual 911 Power to the Peaceful Festival (PTTP) at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.

Now in its seventh year, PTTP is an annual series of free, outdoor music and arts festivals with a social justice message bringing together international musicians, local artists and renowned speakers in a large festival atmosphere. The first festival drew over 6,000 people, but has expanded to be one of Californias largest festivals of its kind with over 50,000 attendees last year. This year, the San Francisco Mayors Office will proclaim September 10th Power to the Peaceful Day at the festival. This years theme, Bring Em Home, seeks to remind the public that the best way to support American troops abroad is to bring them home today.

Inspirational performances at PTTP have included such diverse speakers and artists including Amy Goodman, Dennis Kucinich, Alice Walker, Ram Das, Digital Underground, Talib Kweli, KRS-One, The String Cheese Incident, Lyrics Born, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, John Butler Trio, Krist Novoselic, and Jello Biafra. As festival organizer and Spearhead frontman Michael Franti explains the history of the festival, As a brainstorm of LA-based organization, Artist Network of Refuse & Resist, Rage Against The Machine, artist Robbie Conal and Franti, the festival began in 1999 as an international day of art and culture with events in NYC, LA and San Francisco in support of political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal. The name and date 911 were chosen to call attention to the emergency status of Mumias impending execution. Inspired and wanting to continue the movement of music, art and social justice, Franti adopted the moniker 911 and expanded the event in 2000 to show support for all prisoners on death row and to speak out against the exponential growth of militarism and the prison industrial complex.

Noting the significance of more recent global political events, Franti says, In 2001 the day of September 11th took on a wider significance as a result of the tragic loss of life by the attacks of the day. The 4th and 5th events in 2002-2003 created a space for healing and compassion for ALL the people killed or displaced by terrorism and the war on terrorism and in 2004 PTTP brought out the issue of get out the vote and stand up and be counted."

In addition to the performers and speakers on the main stage, the festival features a zero-waste program using bio-diesel vegetable fuel for power, biodegradable flatware, water bottles and plates, recycle and composting bins, an open-air art gallery, earth-conscious vendors, massage and yoga, DJ dance floor, eco-village, kids zone, bike coalition and a diverse array of social, environmental and political organizations tabling.

Music Plus TV's Hip Hop Show Will Host Blood of Abraham on Live Broadcast

LOS ANGELES, CAMusic Plus TV video jockeys Khalel Bishop and Nan Khan will host their hip hop show Urban Rootz this Friday with a little more political and social consciousness than usual. Benyad and Mazik of Blood of Abraham, a politically edgy hip hop duo from LA, is scheduled to appear on their show for a guest interview and performance.

"We want to spark awareness in people, about where they live and whats going on," said Benyad of their music.

While it remains to be seen what type ofawareness Blood of Abraham will raise for Music Plus TV viewers, the duo maintains a concern for the general lack of consciousness in hip hop, and has covered issues in their music and past interviews ranging from overconsumerism in capitalist societies to mutual regard for different cultures and religions. They cite pre-Christian world history, Egyptology, and filmmaker Stanley Kubrick as some of their major influences.

Urban Rootz is on Music Plus TVs live Internet TV channel weekdays at 6 p.m. Pacific Time. Blood of Abraham will appear on the show this Friday, August 19th.

B-C has released Holy Hip Hop album: My Testimony on U.G.E.

The autobiographical 'My Testimony' recounts the spiritual quest of the gospel rapper rise from failure to victory.

Spirituality has always been an inspiration for me, and the personal experiences of growing up in low income housing and opening up for Fred Hammond has led to the creation of the autobiographical CD 'My Testimony.' This stunning cd, traces B-C's life and his ultimate embrace of Christianity. It was released on June 26, 2005, on U.G.E.

B-C's thirst for a closer relationship with God and the search for something infinite and greater than ourselves led to his Christian faith. How he discovered and embraced that faith is the thematic basis for 'My Testimony.' The songs tell the story of how he left failure and took a long journey that led him that salvation.

"I feel'My Testimony' is for both non-Christians and Christians. But, perhaps even more for people who aren't acquainted with Christ. It's not a praise and worship album by any means. It tells what happened to me personally, as if I was giving my testimony in church at: it's just a bit longer!" says B-C.

B-C wrote'My Testimony' while he was homeless and living place to place in Baton Rouge, La. A-1 produced and mix My Testimony.

In 1997, after writing and recording a song with the Abundant Life Choir in Newport News, VA, and touring with the Friends And Unity Choir he left the group. The timing could not have been stranger, So, at the start of his success, B-C moved from Hampton, VA, to Baton Rouge LA, for the reason as "feeling called by God to do something in a new place." He adds, "It was a totally spiritual decision. I wasn't sure where the Lord was taking me, but I just knew I had to trust him and step out in faith."

"Suddenly, I had a flood of ideas that led to the 'My Testimony' concept and I knew it was the Lord inspiring me. Almost everything was newly written except for 'Question,' which was an idea I had during my time with the 'Abundant Life Choir'period."

B-C began an incredibly prolific writing and recording regimen. He started working on 'My Testimony' in October 2002 and finished in December 2004, the right pace for a project of this magnitude and complexity.

As for the reaction B-C expects to get from both the progressive hip hop and contemporary Gospel music worlds, he has no idea. Nor any expectations. "The response will probably run the gamut. Some will love it and some will hate it. It needs to find its own place out there. It's a totally unique album in that it's a progressive hip hop epic with a Christian message, which to my knowledge has never been done before, so it'll need to find it's own unique audience," he says.

Touring is planned to promote'My Testimony.' B-C is planning to play shows at smaller venues.

"It was a very joyous time for me making 'My Testimony.' I'm so thrilled. I feel the Lord blessed the album," says B-C. "It's a wonderful thing."

GB: What makes this CD different from the last 6 volumes of the Now and Laterman series.
TD: "A lot of people have heard and seen me on various web sites and see my street grind, but still don't recognize me as a Hip Hop Artist. I basically went to DJ Left who I respect very much although we differ in opinions a lot to compile some of the freestyles that I have done to date with and some unreleased tracks. On this cd I want listeners to hear the style that makes me unique. I have been called old school, abstract, and commercial. Usually I zone out for a few months and do a project with no boundaries. This time DJ Left set the pace.

GB: So what are you bringing to the game?
TD: A Journey. I want listeners to challenge themselves to hear Hip Hop that's not single dimensional. A have been turned down from a lot of labels because they say my music has no focus. I do it from my heart and express what's going with and around me. Each CD has been an evolution. One has not been like the other. They show growth whether it is lyrically, technically, or artwork. I always give my fans something to watch and listen to. I was always told that if there is something in life that you want but don't see it, create it. I strongly believe that I have done that for hip hop. Life is life, we all experience it. But how we express it is different. That's what I do express from Tommy's view.

GB: Ultimately with that approach you may limit your opportunities.
TB: That's the greatest part about being independent. I am the consumer first. I have to test it, break it, and re-create it. If I don't have passion in it then I don't want to be apart of it no matter how much money. Unless of course it's a couple of Million to ease the pain.

GB: So what's next?
TB: The game constantly changes. Everything is visual now. So I shot the video "Gang Bang" Directed by Zaire "The Visualizer Extraordinaire" We constantly look to push the envelope. The video has the feel of a young hungry Hype Williams. The track produced by DJ Left has a drum on the MPC ready to peak red. Automatic banger for the ride, Ipod, club and TV.

GB: So what else is next?
TB: Some people may be surprised but the Now & Laterman will be put to rest. The series will be completed with the Mystery Flavor. Collect all the volumes while you can.
