Benny Blanco's New Album Positions Him as One of the Fastest Rising Stars in East Coast Hip-Hop
Early adversity toughened Blanco for his current success. Now as a successful solo artist and label owner, Benny Blanco is set to put Tampa on the Southeast Hip-Hop map.
(PRWEB via PR Web Direct) November 3, 2005 -- Benny Blanco, Tampa's latest Hip-Hop Mogul, is making his play for the top of the charts with Operasione Leak Proof The Mixtape, a new mixtape album from his label, It's Nuffin' Records.
Blanco's career so far is the stuff of which champions are made and legends are born. His refusal to quit against long odds and adversity has only made him better. Benny Blanco is set to emerge as one of the rap games latest upcoming artists. This rapper and producer has not only displayed his proficiency on and off the mic, but has extended his efforts and passion for the music industry to create his very own label.
It's Nuffin' Records is set to become not just a hot new label, but a place where Blanco's business savvy and artist-friendly attitude will allow his stable of budding superstars to shine.
Early buzz for Blanco's mic skills was strong after his rhymes were featured on several New York City compilations. Quickly, the promise dimmed and Blanco struggled with record labels and several legal battles and decided to market himself overseas. Confidant in his ability as an artist, and backed by determination, he created his first solo album. The Bronx Tale was released to a receptive audience in Asia. It was an introspective album revealing his struggles as a new artist. Solid sales in Asia got Blanco sponsored onto his first major tour, solidifying his ability on the mic and giving him fresh momentum.
Blanco proved that a Latin rapper does not need to be a mere clich. He started his own record label, Its Nuffin Records, in 1996 so he could pave his own way to success while maintaining his roots. Since he made his own way toward a successful career, Blanco decided to build his own empire rather than sign his career away to a major label.
His relentless dedication to his music now has Blanco signing and working closely with his own artists as well as producing his own music. He currently has three new mixtape releases and a full album in the works. His early struggles in the U.S. and his hard-won success in Asia forced this young artist to grow in a very short period of time. His choice to strike out on his own has not only made him a successful entrepreneur but has positioned him to make serious noise within the music industry.
Its Nuffin Records released Benny Blancos latest project titled Operasione Leak Proof The Mixtape album this October 18th. Early reaction is building the street appetite and momentum for Benny Blancos upcoming album titled Water Front Rackets scheduled for release in early 2006. Production credits include, The Justice League (Young Jeezys Dont get Caught Toni Braxton, Juelz Santana), Decap Beats and many more.
The hot single to watch on the Album is titled Blow Feat: 2Pac Shakur which was released last October as a 12 Vinyl Test Press and helped Benny Blanco rocket up the Indie Charts at #3 by Star Fleet Music DJs and Record Pools along the Eastern Coast. Internet fans across the world have swiftly downloaded over 100,000 copies and counting. Operasione Leak Proof The Mixtape Album contains a Remix version of the Single Blow Feat: 2Pac Shakur as a hidden track on the CD.

About CIMF:
The ConneXion International Music Festival (CIMF) was founded in 2003 by Leslie Rovero. Rovero attended several festivals with artists that she managed only to discover that the organizers paid more attention to making money than to artist development. Soon after, the CIMF became a reality. Last year's inaugural festival in Jacksonville, Florida featured more than 100 artists and industry representatives from all over the world. CIMF was so successful that they were approached by several different sponsors in different cities all offering to host this year's festival. But our focus has always been on the artists and the overwhelming feedback that we received was for two annual festivals. CIMF East in Florida and CIMF West in Las Vegas.
The festival provides a platform to discover and develop new talent and promises to give exposure to a diverse range of promising performers. Artists from all over the world have the chance to showcase their talents and network with invited A&R executives, producers, publishers, music journalists, talent scouts, casting agents and filmmakers. Musical genres include Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap, Reggae, Latin, Folk, Country, Gospel ..all genres.

NEW YORK, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Notable this week . . .

Beginning Monday, November 7
Fiona Apple "O'Sailor"
James Blunt "You're Beautiful"
Lisa Marie Presley "Idiot"
Goo Goo Dolls "Better Days"
The Eurythmics "I've Got a Life"
"You Oughta Know" - VH1 fills you in on artists on the rise. Get acquainted with these essential new artists.
James Blunt - This ex-soldier has gone from riding in tanks to topping the UK charts with the ballad "You're Beautiful," that Elton John has compared to his own hit "Your Song." The candor and catchiness of Back to Bedlam is the reason for Blunt's success -- the CD showcases a disarmingly tender voice that speaks with the heart of a true romantic.
Leela James - This pint-sized dynamo with the huge voice and the thick cloud of hair is sick of modern hip-hop's skanky side and wants to get back to the gritty sounds made by heroes like Al Green, Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin. Her debut "A Change is Gonna Come" should have any fan of old school R&B jumping for joy. She calls her music "back porch soul;" it bursts with deep grooves (courtesy of Kanye West and Wyclef Jean), and songs to make you sob and shout.
Aqualung - London-based Matt Hales aka Aqualung started getting involved in music at a young age, composing a symphony at age 16. Hales landed one of his songs "Strange and Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You)," in a UK VW Beetle commercial which coincided with the release of his self-titled debut. People started clamoring to find THAT song and his album of dark and haunting songs became a hit. He renders his heartbreak with subtlety, preferring to let whispery vocals create a string of moody atmospheres. And believe it or not, he says he's never heard the Jethro Tull tune.

Energizer Bunny(R) Rolls With DUB Magazine
Leading battery maker joins forces with the authority on urban automotive lifestyles to promote its Energizer(R) e2(R) Titanium Technology(R) batteries
ST. LOUIS, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today, Energizer is announcing a partnership with DUB magazine, the authoritative voice of urban automotive lifestyles, to promote Energizer's innovative e2 Titanium Technology batteries through an extensive marketing program in 2006.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20051103/NYTH087 )
DUB's roots in the hip-hop and car customization cultures, combined with Energizer's commitment to high performance, longer-lasting products makes for an unexpected partnership. But together they are reaching out to those who value their own unique style -- including the "tuner" culture, which exploded onto the scene after celebrities like 50 Cent and Latrell Sprewell have spent millions of dollars customizing their rides. The collaboration supports Energizer's continuous effort to keep the music going by tapping into the trend-setting DUB lifestyle of individualism.
"Most people associate DUB with celebrities, music and customized automobiles, so they may ask why Energizer?" said Myles Kovacs, founder of DUB magazine. "In actuality though, we both focus on providing consumers with top-of-the-line products that will in one way or another, allow them to express their individuality and uniqueness."
Energizer and DUB are kicking off their partnership at the 2005 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas the week of October 31, 2005. As part of the program, consumers can enter a sweepstakes to win a tricked-out Dodge Charger, dubbed the Orange Whip, in the fall of 2006. A prototype of the custom DUB-produced Charger will debut at the SEMA Show.
In addition to the sweepstakes, consumers can view the DUB-produced Charger on the 2006 DUB Magazine Car Show and Concert Tour, which hits 14 cities nationwide, beginning in February. The partnership includes promotional support and retail-tainment events, limited edition collectible die-cast cars at retail, a custom Web site for consumers to download screen savers and other offers, and featured programming on MTV's hit show, Cribs. Selected advertising support also is being finalized for the remainder of 2006.
"We're thrilled about the DUB partnership, because it demonstrates our company's mission to find innovative ways to engage consumers," said Jeff Ziminski, vice president of marketing for Energizer. "Our focus for the e2 brand is a younger audience who lives and breathes its individualism in every aspect of their being, and the partnership makes complete sense to accomplish this goal."
Additional information on Energizer e2 Titanium Technology batteries can be found at www.energizer.com. To learn more about DUB magazine and the 2006 DUB Magazine Car Show and Concert Tour visit www.dubpublishing.com, or check out DUB's booth at SEMA in Las Vegas for more information on the program.

This contest will allow more artists the opportunity that they would otherwise not get if they were just knocking on the record label doors. The record label is actually knocking on their doors, this is a wonderful opportunity.

While Daz, Kurupt and myself judge their performance. It will definitely be a DPGC Idol. And my television viewers will get the opportunity to judge as well. This is a perfect opportunity for an artist to really determine if he will be the next Tupac, wherever he or she reside."
Daz Dillinger explains, "This announcement should come as no surprise because I love to develop new artists." Dillinger continues, "I chose November 1st as the day to start the contest because it is the debut of me and Young Gotti's reunion album- Dillinger II Young Gotti The Saga Continues. THINKfilm Makes 'Awesome' Acquisition
First Feature Film Creation for Beastie Boys
NEW YORK, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- THINKFilm has acquired all worldwide rights to AWESOME; I F**KIN' SHOT THAT, a cinematic celebration of the hugely popular music group Beastie Boys, it was announced by President and CEO Jeff Sackman. A formally innovative feature film experience, it was directed by Nathaniel Hornblower (a.k.a. "M.C.A," a.k.a. band member Adam Yauch) and produced by Hornblower and Jon Doran. THINK plans to open the recently-completed film in Spring, 2006 following significant festival presentations early next year.
On October 9, 2004, the Beastie Boys handed out 50 cameras to audience members at their sold-out performance in New York's famed Madison Square Garden. These 50 different passionate perspectives shot from the point-of-view of the audience take the viewer deep inside the world of a live Beastie Boys show, prismatically and kinetically capturing the experience of a live musical performance like no film has ever done.
"'Awesome' is the only word that can describe the experience of watching this film," says THINK theatrical division head Mark Urman. "It's totally modern and witty aesthetically, but also fabulous to watch and listen to." Sackman adds, "We have been pursuing this film aggressively since we first read about it and think that Adam, Jon, and the rest of their team at Oscilloscope Films are the equal of any filmmaking team we've worked with when it comes to having a vision and realizing it to its best and fullest potential." Yauch added "I'm glad that the film has found a home with THINK. Sh*t has been bubbling for a minute and now THINK is gonna light a match."
The first white rap group of any significance, The Beastie Boys have enjoyed two decades of top-of-the-charts success since their 1986 album "License to Ill" and its hit single, "Fight for Your Right," catapulted them to international acclaim and fame. Their last three albums ("Ill Communication," "Hello Nasty," and "To the 5 Boroughs") were best-sellers, each reaching #1 on the American Album charts. Their latest, "Solid Gold Hits," a compendium of career highlights is about to be released by Capitol Records. In 2000 A two-disc video set with many of the band's videos -- most directed by Hornblower/Yauch -- was created by Yauch and released by The Criterion Collection. It remains the only music-video anthology released by the noted archival brand. The most unique feature of the DVD is the ability to switch audio tracks and video angles in any number of combinations. Yauch intends to author similar features on the AWESOME DVD, which THINK will release next summer.
Beastie Boys Mike D (Michael Diamond) and Adrock (Adam Horovitz), star in AWESOME along with Yauch and guests. The film was photographed, as Yauch says, by "a bunch of untrained camera operators. But that gives the film sincerity. The people that shot it, were feeling it."
The deal was negotiated by Sackman, Urman, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Business Affairs Randy Manis, and Acquisitions Vice President Daniel Katz on behalf of THINK. Roger Arar and Ken Anderson of Loeb & Loeb represented the filmmakers.

of Total, Monifah, Blackstreet and Chico DeBarge.
After scoring a couple of hits behind the scenes,
Knight decided to move into the realm of recording,
releasing his critically acclaimed debut album, Gypsy
Blues (Universal) in the summer of 1999. He was the
first writer signed to Sean "P. Diddy" Combs

artists including Mary J. Blige, Lil' Kim, J. Lo and
P. Diddy.
Jack is currently collaborated with award-winning

Knight speaks on how Hip Hop Education is important,
" I truly believe that there are two things in our
world that Transcend Race, Culture, Politics, and
Religion. To me those two things are Self-education
and Music. I say self-education because the effort it
takes for a young person from the inner cities of New
York, Europe, Africa, and Latin America to read and
educate them, helps build an unseen force of
intellectual understanding and communication.
Music on the other hand, in particular music of
the hip hop genre. Brings the Urban and world
culture's together with no concern's other than
recognizing our struggle, at the same time we still
have a good time dancing, Rapping, and dressing.
The Hip-Hop education summit is both brilliant and
pioneering in bringing these two elements of culture
together in a fun and exciting way. I'm honored to be
apart of this movement the same way the forefathers of
this country were honored to be apart of the
declaration of independence"

Beyond delivering superior sound, the technology provides a platform for advanced new services, including scrolling text on receiver display screens (e.g., artist names & song titles, weather forecasts, school closings); delivery of real-time traffic updates to vehicles; and multicasting -- a feature that allows FM stations to broadcast up to eight digital streams of programming over a single frequency and in addition to existing analog signals. HD Radio receivers are now available or expected later this year from: ADA, Alpine, Boston Acoustics, DaySequerra, JVC, Kenwood, Panasonic, Radiosophy, Rotel, Sanyo, and Yamaha, with many more under development.

Breaking New Ground in Internships Sophist Productions Present Sophist Label Launch
Internship educating College students in music business begins its second semester.
(PRWEB) November 2, 2005 -- When the Sophist Label Launch Internship Program began in Spring 2005, Sophist Productions CEO Reed Baker could not predict the wild success of the program. Ten interns participated in the first internship program, mostly in the New York City area, yet this Fall semester the program jumped to 25 interns in 14 states.
The goal of the Sophist Label Launch is to supply college students with the know-how, support and real-world opportunities needed to launch a record label and release an album in an environment congruent to the city, state or even nation as a whole. The program condenses all the major movements a label goes through in order to release its first project, Baker explains.
Students hit their home campuses hard securing campus radio and newspaper coverage of Sophist events, setting up and managing contact lists to disseminate Sophist happenings and distributing merchandise such as the clever Get your REED on bookmarks. Students are encouraged to set up listening parties and attempt to book members of Sophist Productions at a campus event to interact with students. Skills covered include public relations, marketing, radio promotion, mobile marketing, event planning, and retail promotion.
Candidates are selected from all colleges and universities and there is no major requirement to participate in the program. Internships should not require experience since the primary purpose of such programs is to give an interested participant a foot in the door. All candidates need are a strong interest in the music business - we teach everything else, said Internship Coordinator Danielle Culmone.
Since participating in the program, Sophist Intern Peter Brunwasser, a Communications and Media Arts major at Rockland Community College, has gone on to manage his own hip hop artists as well as found the first hip hop music club on his campus. REED was the main motivation I had when I created the club. Now I manage my own artists and Ive improved my networking skills. My personal goal is to create a buzz about REED and make him a part of my campus, Brunwasser said.
Interested undergrad and graduate students can apply as Sophist Productions seeks to give everyone a chance to experience the music industry. Recruitment has begun for the programs third semester starting in February 2006. Interested students should contact Danielle Culmone at 646.226.5861.

RMD Entertainment Group and Big Kuntree Align to Bring the Dirty South to Wall Street
BAY CITY, MI and PHILADELPHIA, PA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 1, 2005 -- RMD Entertainment Group (OTC BB:RMDG.OB - News) announced today that their entertainment division has put the finishing touches on a deal with Big Kuntree. Following RMD's deal announcement with Philadelphia phenomenom Roc Monee, Big Kuntree's deal is a three-album agreement that will allow both Roc Monee and him to fortify RMD's strong foundation in the hip-hop community.
Similar to Roc Monee, Big Kuntree is a force to be reckoned with on the microphone and in person. Formerly a standout athlete at the University of Tennessee, Kuntree combined his wisdom from the streets with his athletic focus and developed a formula for hip-hop success. His current album (2006 release) couples his raspy southern twang with highly intellegent ryhmes and take the rap game in a whole new direction.
While the dirty south continues to elevate hip-hop to new heights, Big Kuntree has refined his southern skills and added a healthy dose of East Coast flavor to deliver a diverse experience that RMD Entertainment feels will enhance their repertoire.
RMD President and CEO Giorgio Costonis had this to say, "Much like the Roc Monee deal, Kuntree will be brought into our corporate fold by not only signing on for a three-album deal, but he will also be occupying a position within RMD. The foundation of dirty south hip-hop reaches far beyond a specific sound, style, or flow; it is a frame of mind that Big Kuntree was born with and we are fortunate to have on our roster."
About RMD Entertainment Group.
RMD Entertainment (RMD) is a cutting-edge entertainment company with a primary focus on selling hip-hop music internationally. Additionally, the company markets other Hip-Hop lifestyle products to its music audience. RMD's hip-hop catalogue is exclusively distributed by Bungalo Records in North America, which is exclusively distributed by Universal Music Group. RMD's dance music catalogue is exclusively distributed by Inversus Records of Miami, FL.
Truly a global company with well over 60 years combined experience in the music industry, RMD has had nothing but success on the international level and its staff producers have collaborated with some of the most influential names in the music scene today, such as Sting, David Byrne of the Talking Heads, George Kranz, Freedom Williams of C & C Music Factory, Steve Winwood, Robin Scott, and jazz saxophone legend Bill Evans, among others.

VH1 Classic Invites Viewers to 'Pay to Play' in Music Video-Thon for Hurricane Katrina Relief Up to Thanksgiving
NEW YORK, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- VH1 Classic is serving up its annual "A Very Classic Thanksgiving" special on multiple platforms this year including dishing out the "first course" on Vspot, VH1's broadband entertainment (http://vspot.vh1.com/) seven days before the special bows on VH1 Classic.
"A Very Classic Thanksgiving" invites some of the most accomplished names in music to the VH1 Classic family table for a four-course, holiday dinner set to premiere on Thanksgiving Day, November 24 at 7:00 PM.* DEE SNIDER (Twisted Sister) hosts this year's gathering which includes CLARENCE CLEMONS (The E Street Band), PATTY SMYTH (Scandal), WONDER MIKE (Sugar Hill Gang) and CHRIS BARRON (Spin Doctors).
To complement VH1 Classic's multiplatform approach this holiday, classic music lovers will be able to download polyphonic ringtones from some memorable songs by the featured artists at www.VH1.com.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, these artists who represent different musical styles and eras join together and celebrate the one common passion that they are all thankful for -- their love of music. They gather at the "grown ups' table" at New York's Hard Rock Cafe and answer questions submitted by VH1 Classic viewers. During the special we learn:
-- The first time that Clarence Clemons saw a rock band live was Bruce
Springsteen and the E Street Band -- the first time that he performed
with them.
-- Patty Smyth opened for Andy Kaufman when she was only 14.
-- Chris Barron would like to write a song with Willie Nelson.
-- If Wonder Mike wasn't with the Sugar Hill Gang, he'd be the quarterback
of the Dallas Cowboys because his throwing arm was that good.
VH1 Classic Invites Viewers to "Pay to Play" in Music Video-Thon for Hurricane Katrina Relief Up to Thanksgiving
VH1 Classic has partnered with renowned pop culture artist Peter Max to launch its "Pay to Play for Hurricane Katrina Relief" campaign on the VH1 Classic web site (www.vh1classic.com). Viewers can make financial donations to Mercy Corps and in return request their favorite classic rock, pop & R&B music videos to be played on the channel. Mercy Corps is an international humanitarian relief organization currently providing assistance to families in the Gulf Coast who have been impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
VH1 Classic and Peter Max have devised a "scale of support" based on the amount of money that viewers donate:
-- For every $25 donation, a viewer can request one video to be played on
VH1 Classic. Donors will be notified by email when their video request
will be played.
-- For a $200 donation, a viewer can request eight (8) separate videos and
receive a Peter Max limited edition poster specific to hurricane relief
autographed by the artist himself.
-- For a $35,000 donation, Max will paint your very own portrait. You
will also get to program VH1 Classic for a whole hour with your
favorite music videos from the 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s.
VH1 Classic on-air hosts Amy Scott, Eddie Trunk, Toni J and Lynn Hoffman are now introducing the requested videos -- and who requested them. The video-thon, airing throughout the channel's music video blocks, will run through Thanksgiving.
Launched in 2000, VH1 Classic is a 24-hour network that presents music videos, concerts and music specials all day long, featuring the best rock, soul and pop artists from the 60s, 70s and 80s including The Beatles, The Stones, Tina Turner, Led Zeppelin, Marvin Gaye, The Who, Stevie Wonder, The Police and many more.
