About The Artists:

Alias: If it wasn't for Theo Huxtable, Brendan Whitney might still be living in the woods of Southern Maine. Raised by a church organist/hobby store clerk and a firefighting jazz drummer on six acres of land in rural Hollis, little Bren never had cable television. It was in 1998, working in Minneapolis on the seminal Deep Puddle Dynamics project with Sole, Dose, and Atmosphere's Slug, that Alias realized he had no choice but to make music his entire life. He and his wife Jenn were on their way to the Laundromat when they got a copy of the finished record. They sold the car, quit their jobs, packed everything into a U-Haul and headed out west. With $300 left, they moved into an East Oakland warehouse with the rest of the Anticon's first migratory wave. Alias recently started his own label (Goodwithmoney Recordings) and is currently putting the finishing touches on an album that he recorded with singer Tarsier (of Brooklyn-based electronic duo Healamonster and Tarsier) called Oaklyn/Brookland. Bleubird is as zany as Grand Buffet and as thought provoking as Sole, and does it all without spreading himself too thin. Originating from Gainesville, this bird has flown all over the world spreading his wings to touch and perplex audiences. Bleubirds zaniness knows no bounds. He has fused his own words into the lyrics to Chicagos "Glory of Love," on the cover of his album Sloppy Doctor, he portrayed himself as both Osama Bin Laden and the Virgin Mary, has sampled from Sesame Streets Grover, Outkast, and even his cat, Spider. Masked beneath the oddities, Bleubirds true self becomes evident. He is a man on a musical mission who has sacrificed relationships and stability, loves his family, fears for his countrys demise, and refers to God as "she." His story is the ordinary plight of the artist but Bleubird is representing for the team: "Wearing a mirrored suit, reflecting everybodys pity. Right back at ya." Astronautalis has been part of the underground hip-hop scene for years. He mixes a fast-paced rhyming style with well-timed breaks and lyrical song. His style is definitely reminiscent of the East Coast sound, though you can hear tastes of Southern flavor seeping into his work like brandy to mince meat pie. He dominates the stage as a performer, his freestyle will knock your socks off and his written word has a beautifully artistic focus. Visit www.modelcitizens.org for more information.

Science-Non-Fiction combines melodically superior beats and engaging wordplay to present a sound that demands attention. The local indie-hop groups lyrically charged music encompasses the current state of socio-political affairs and the ever-familiar themes of love and life. Their unique and refreshing sound crosses genre barriers and exudes a desire to break free from predetermined formulas. Visit www.sci-non-fic.com for more information.
