New York, NY (PRWEB) December 30, 2005 -- From Atlanta to New York to New Orleans to Washington DC, director of Paper Chasers, Max Collier, set out to follow those who have "made it and those who are on the verge of success in the hip-hop world. For every one hip-hop superstar, there are hundreds of talented people who simply couldnt make it. KOCH Vision presents Paper Chasers, a documentary about the dream to break out of the ghetto and into the money-making world of hip-hop. During the crews taping in Atlanta, they got a tip from a local hair-stylist about a virtually unknown performer named Ludacris. After tracking him down, the camera crew saw the career of Ludacris skyrocket into superstardom, virtually in front of their eyes. Since the filming, Ludacris has become a multi-platinum selling artist, who has landed a permanent spot in the world of hip-hop.
Examining the emergence of entrepreneurship in hip-hop, Paper Chasers pays homage to some of the most successful names in the industry such as Russell Simmons, founder of Def Jam Records and Damon Dash, co-founder of Rocafella Records. Follow the cameras as they take viewers across the country to see how hard work has paid off for countless names in the industry. Paper Chasers will be available on DVD beginning July 12, 2005. The DVD includes appearances by more than 50 figures in music, film, fashion and beyond. The DVD will also contain over 60 minutes of extras, including never-before-seen performances of Ludacris & Disturbing the Peace, Buckshot and others.

Airing on IFC (Independent Film Channel) in the fall of 2005, Paper Chasers is a documentary about the impact of hip hop entrepreneurs who have built successful businesses in music, film, fashion, TV, print media and now the internet. The film follows director Maxie D. Collier and his close-knit production crew as they travel across the United States in an RV, interviewing hip-hop business owners and executives at all levels of success.
Paper Chasers is director Maxie Colliers third feature project. He previously co-produced the award-winning film, "Detention." His directorial debut was in 2000 with a film entitled "Hacks." Collier is a digital video enthusiast, who recently launched the DV Filmmakers Website and later the self-published DV Filmmakers Handbook, which is currently a leading educational text on digital filmmaking.
