Last weekend at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, amid the countless performances that make the Fringe an avant-garde hotbed, a group of break dancers from South Korea presented "Spin Odyssey." A 70-minute narrative piece loosely based on Homer's epic, the work transports an Odysseus-like character through time to a hip-hop wonderland, where he learns about the meaning of heroism through break dancing.

An Itinerant Refugee in a Hip-Hop World [M.I.A.]:
Maya Arulpragasam's Brooklyn apartment was a neglected mess when she finally returned to it last month after six months abroad. But it took only a day to straighten it up and turn it into her version of a pied--terre, a makeshift multimedia headquarters. An audio mixing board, film canisters and shiny gold and black dancing outfits stood on one side of the apartment, and half of an uneaten papaya waited on a table in the back.

Exiting Republican strategist and evil genius [literally] Karl Rove recently discussed his rap video in a NY Times article:

He even denied responsibility for his hip-hop performance as a rapping "M.C. Rove" at the Radio and Television Correspondents' Dinner in March.

"They dragged me up there," he told Mr. Wallace. "I was uncomfortable, and I said, 'I've got a choice. I can be irritated and everybody will see it, or I can play along and try and show them I'm a good sport.'" He noted that his black-tie rap routine, shown over and over on television and the Internet, was his "most humiliating moment in Washington, bar none."

Of course, it's clear that he had a bit of rehearsal so they didn't just literally drag him up there but it's nice to know that rap did have a positive effect in his life!
