Hip-Hop Superstar The Game, Meagan Good and Larenz Tate Join Tyrese Gibson in Rogue Pictures' 'Waist Deep'

Directed by Vondie Curtis Hall; Production Underway

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Hip-hop superstar The Game and actors Meagan Good and Larenz Tate are joining actor Tyrese Gibson in the cast of Rogue Pictures' urban action thriller "Waist Deep." Directed by Vondie Curtis Hall (who last helmed the acclaimed "Redemption," starring Jamie Foxx), the movie began production this week. Rogue Pictures president David Linde made the announcement today.

"Waist Deep" is being produced by Preston Holmes (executive producer of Focus Features' February release "Something New"). Ted Field (head of Radar Pictures), Russell Simmons and Stan Lathan are executive-producing the film, with Dwight Williams (executive producer of "Hustle & Flow") line-producing. Mr. Hall wrote the most recent draft of the screenplay, the previous drafts of which were written by A. Michael Mahern and Darin Scott, respectively. Executive vice president, production Amy Kaufman, who will make the transition to independent producing and be based at Focus Features this fall, is supervising the Los Angeles-based "Waist Deep" shoot for president of production John Lyons. Focus, headed by co-presidents Mr. Linde and James Schamus, holds international sales rights to all Rogue movies.

"Waist Deep" follows an ex-con, O2 (to be played by Mr. Gibson), who is suddenly plunged into a life-or-death situation. Trying to go straight for the sake of his young son Junior, O2 is forced to go back outside the law when Junior is kidnapped in a carjacking. His son is now in the hands of a vicious criminal leader, Meat (The Game). O2's shady cousin Wanna Be (Mr. Tate) is caught between loyalties, and so the only person who can or will help O2 now is wily street-smart hustler Coco (Ms. Good). With the clock ticking down, the heat between them rises as they become a lawbreaking couple, on an action-packed tear through town to save Junior and outwit the underworld.

Mr. Linde commented, "'Waist Deep' perfectly fits Rogue's mandate of filmmaker and actor-driven genre product that has mainstream appeal -- in this movie, a blast of urban action with a sexy 21st-century Bonnie and Clyde. We're excited to be working with Vondie and these actors, and with a great group of producers."

The Game, whose album "The Documentary" debuted at #1 on the Billboard/Soundscan Top 100 chart this past winter, is making his feature debut in "Waist Deep." Ms. Good has starred for Focus Features in two films, the Sundance Film Festival award winner Brick (to be released in March) and "Deliver Us from Eva." Mr. Tate recently starred in "Crash" and the Academy Award-winning "Ray." Mr. Gibson currently stars in "Four Brothers."

The Roof Records Emerges to Discover, Develop and Promote New Fusions and Latin Urban Rhythms

New independent label will become home to well-known artists, new talents and producers that have come to set the standard of Latin urban music

Miami(PRWEB) August 10, 2005 -- Anthony Perez, president and CEO of Perfect Image Film and Video Production, and creator of the successful television program The Roof, announced today the launch of a new independent label - The Roof Records - dedicated to discovering, developing and promoting new musical fusions and rhythms within the explosive and popular genre of Latin urban music in the U.S. and the rest of the world.

Perez' vision is that The Roof Records will become home to new artists recognized and established in this musical genre. The Roof Records has been created with the intention of contributing to the emergence, development and musical promotion of new sounds and rhythms that conform to what we know as Latin urban music, said Perez. We understand that music is a faithful reflection of the culture and by this we will also support music producers who are instrumental in the creation of these sounds and rhythms, he added.

Additionally, Perez announced that the label would formally begin operations effective with the launching of the talented rapper Big Boy and his album "El Comeback", which will be released on August 30th. Other artists, who will become part of The Roof Records include: Reggeton trio Trivales; Puerto Rican female rapper Jacquie; Panamanian-Canadian artist Fito Blanko; Dominican rapper Charlie Valens; Bachata band Toque DKeda; award-winning Dominican group Ilegales; Panamanian artists Goodfellas and Aldo Ranks; and New York rapper Don Heightz.

The label also announced its mission to support established and newfound talent in the area of musical production. Included among these diverse, unique producers is Dominican Hip-Hop and Reggeton producer Ricky Cash.

On the development of musical producers, Perez adds, "In the past producers have not been given credit or the opportunities they deserve. They were paid as work for hire and never given the exposure or royalties as their beats became hits. We believe producers are at the core of successful rhythms and by working with this pool of talent is how new fusions of music can grow."

Danixa Lopez, director of marketing, expressed, "Our main objective is to discover pure talents out there who have not had the opportunity to be heard. We are focused on bringing these talents to the Latin urban market and thus offer fresh and innovative products to them."

The Roof Records is a sister company of Perfect Image Records, the label responsible for successfully promoting Reggeton and other urban movements in the U.S. This label will continue as a catalogue label; whereas their artists happen to comprise that of The Roof Records roster.

In addition to the launching of Big Boy, Perez acknowledges that the next releases will include original albums from the group Trivales, and several compilations and DVDs, including a documentary entitled Testimonios de los Creadores del Genero Reggeton. Filmed entirely in Puerto Rico, the documentary is in DVD format and counts the true history of the beginnings of Reggeton through the pioneers of this musical movement.

Minamina Goodsong releases 4th Album "The Four Farmer Circus"

ArcTheFinger Records recording artist Minamina Goodsong releases their 4th full length album "The Four Farmer Circus" through Redeye distribution on August 9th, 2005

Atlanta, Ga (PRWEB) August 10, 2005 -- Minamina Goodsong (Mnah-mnah, not meena meena, the crew thats known to quench your thirst like Orangina ) the ATL independent Hip-hop behemoth comprised of DJ TChalla and MCs Adahma AD, Twain (aka Ted Jon), and Pgnut The Prehistoric, continue to build their name through charismatic, hyper-kinetic live performances and a mercurial style of writing, rhyming and producing. Theyre a college radio favorite, have been a featured act on Atlanta commercial radio giant 99.xs morning show, earned numerous press write-ups and landed on bills with major-label acts ranging from The Streets to Run DMC. Minaminas instrumental tracks have been used in programming on MTV and Fox Sports, as well as on the Cartoon Networks cult smash Adult Swim programming block. So far this year, the MG crew has performed in several key US markets, including Chicago and New York City in April they headlined the final night of the A3C Independent Hip-hop Festival in Atlanta, and in August will do an east coast run with the Vans Warped Tours Code of tha Cutz (COTC) stage. In addition to Minaminas performances, COTC will be joined by nationally touring underground Hip-hop artists such as Definitive Jux Records artist Hangar 18. On August 11th Minamina will return home to Atlanta to perform at the Atlantis Music Conference before hitting the road for the second leg of the 2005 tour.

Thanks to RedEye Distribution and Atlanta indie Hip-hop label ArcTheFinger Records, Four Farmer Circus, (4FC) the fourth and most ambitious full-length MG album, will be available nationally in Tower Records, Virgin Megastores, Borders Books and music as well as numerous independent record stores on August 9th 2005. A fearless composite of tones and styles, 4FC is built around the concept of a late-late show horror movie. Through a series of skits that tie in with the songs, the album takes the listener through a twisted evening at the traveling Four Farmer Circus. The four members of Minamina transform into demonic alter-egos to prey on innocent victims in the towns they visit. The record draws as much from comic books and emo-core records as it does from house, funk and other more traditional Hip-hop influences. Cartoonist Tyson McAdoo ( whose body of work includes several cover-art pieces for legendary DC and Marvel Comics series, including The Punisher, Superman and Batman, provides album artwork consistent with the musics demented yet oddly lighthearted feel.

Pre-release critical feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Big, the first 12-inch single cut from 4FC, is already finding its way into heavy rotation on college radio stations across the US. As a bonus to Minamina fans across the country, ArcTheFinger will also release the first three Minamina albums (Time For Breakfast, Snatch Grab I Love You and The Transcendental Game of Zen) through RedEye on August 9th.

(PRWEB) August 10, 2005 -- ArcTheFinger Records and 4 Kings Entertainment Bring Indie Hip-hop To The Atlantis Music Conference

Hip-hop deejaying as a science and an artform is all about mixing: a quality mix blends the hottest breaks and verses from crowd favorites, matching beats and interjecting cuts, skratches and shout-outs to keep the party live. Nonstop rocking is mandatory, theres no room for a break in the action. The mix-tape, a recorded manifestation of the DJs skills, is an integral piece of Hip-hop culture. In the mix-tape format, songs are transitioned creatively through various rudiments of turntablism, chopped up, mashed up and reconstructed to craft a fresh composition one banger of a track bleeds into the next, songs are dismantled, remixed and re-combined. Sixty, ninety, one hundred twenty minutes pass without a disruption in the flow of the music.

On Thursday August 11th at The Loft (1374 West Peachtree St, Atlanta), ArcTheFinger Records and 4 Kings Entertainment bring the mix-tape concept to a live performance as we present>>>

DRES Tha Beatnik & DJ Quizs Constantly ON Live Mix-Tape - An Independent Hip-hop Showcase, part of the 2005 Atlantis Music Conference - featuring ten back-to-back performances connected by artist collaborations, freestyle rap, beat-boxing and turntablism.

One day, fresh off of tour ONYX came through and he discussed the group "GANGREEN" with them, they immediately hit the studio, and from there it was on. They shot their first video called "I'LL MURDER YOU" which was produced by Fredro Star. They had the whole hood going crazy, they were HOT!!! But for some reason labels were interested, but not totally interested. Every record label that demo was shopped to would always ask, "Who's that one kid???" That one kid was X1.

Onyx quickly recognizing this, brought X1 on board full blast with there project. He out-shined members of the group in certain areas and help them creatively. The titled album "SHUT 'EM DOWN" came out and went Gold, which was helped by some of the previous singles that had come out before the album such as a song called, "THE WORST" which was one of X1's first videos that he shot with Onyx feat. "WU TANG CLAN" where he shined tremendously.

His performance earned him the respect he deserved from some of the elite rappers in the game at that time. The next video he shot was called "REACT" feat. 50 CENT. A lot of people don't know X1 and 50 CENT were very close , 50 would hang out at there studio sessions hoping to get 16 bars on a record some where, but X1 respects 50 for doing his own thing and being one of the top dogs in the game today. X1 was also cool with JA RULE, he watched JA go from Cash Money Click to being one of the most successful pop artist in hip hop.

After the Onyx album X1 focused on his solo career leaving the Onyx camp but still on good terms with all of the members, which he later on helped them with there solo projects. He eventually signed a deal ith "MIKE TYSON REC." when at the time Blue Williams was the president of the label, soon Blue was fired and the label then was ran by Jimmy Henchman and his brother Mario which X1 had a good relationship with.

A year after that the label didn't quite take off the way X1 expected so he then went and signed a new deal with California record company "BALL'R REC." which had a roster consisting of three acts: Krazy Bone, The Relatives, and X1. He soon ran into creative differences and left the label. So here he is now blazing hot, more focused then ever, and ready to give the world what they have been missing.

All Natural Inc.'s very own Mr. Greenweedz & G.Riot deliver G-Strings on September 13th

Following the blueprint laid by the All Natural Inc release Tree House Rock, Family Tree cousins, Mr. Greenweedz (emcee) and G(riot) (producer) link up to comprise their new release on All Natural Inc. titled G-Strings. Scheduled for release on September 13th, G-Strings stands on a foundation of creative rarities. Mr.Greenweedz added fire to the lyrical brigade while G. Riot provided the album with some solid instrumentals on the Family Trees Tree House Rock album released on All Natural Inc. in 2003. So with the intoxicating sounds and patterns of G(riot)s production, he and Mr. Greenweedz share in the theme of the new album. Greenweedz shows his comfort as an artistic mc, displaying a diversity of topics as well as delivery. With an enriched instrumental here and there from G(riot).

G-Strings remains as fourteen musical compositions all individually particular and specific. The combining pounding bass line, tactful drums, and the aggressive vocal pushes of Mr.Greenweedz on Tent of Miracles acts as a potent opening for G-Strings

And I dont need nobody to tell me a damn thing/ We on the DL like a pulled hamstring

G(riot) even lends his lyrical thoughts to G-Strings as he and Green trade off on the albums title track. Noticeable cameos by Family Tree members Rita J on If You Want to Sing, and Spotlite of Daily Plannet on the Trees Smoke Different give G-Strings that classic All Natural Inc. crew appeal. One of the more outgoing members of the Family Tree, Mr. Greenweedz doesnt fail to push the envelope on G-Strings.

From the irony of songs like Rex Cortez and Carlos Castaneda to the moment moving cries of Someone Else and Moment of Clarity, G-Strings molds the eclectic gray matter of Greenweedz & G(riot) by personifying the uncanny, normal, and abnormal energies of a veteran mc and producer. Check for the promotional single If You Wanna Sing which hit college radio August 2nd and mark your calendars for September 13th because thats the day of the G-String.

Diverse, Melanie Rutherford, Phat Kat, and more

Having laid the groundwork with their release of three critically

Soul, Pete Rock
and DJ Premier...12 top-shelf tracks...Lawless Element drive the lane
with a righteous vengeance."

...Griot and Magnif ride their booty bass with that breathy on-beat,
off-beat flow...a funky listen."

independent label who can surpass these limitations.

Richmond, CA August 8, 2005 -- "You know its hard out here for a pimp when he tryna get this money for the rent."

The now-famous & half-way comical chorus from the movie Hustle & Flow rings throughout the theatre, followed by echoes of laughter. But one Bay Area MC knows a pimps hustle aint no joke.

Preach Martin (pronounced Mar-teen) was born a hustler. Before he realized he could flow, hustling was all he knew. From sticking up unsuspecting citizens to money laundering to plain ol pimpin and panderin, Preach has done it all. These real life experiences and a go-getter attitude inspired him as a novice rapper to approach the owner of the now defunct Straight Hits record label. After auditioning on the spot, Preach was immediately signed to the label as one of its flagship artists.

Me coming from the streets with no buzz, just starting to rap and getting signed to a label thats unheard of. Not to mention a label that is owned by the Program Director of KMEL and KYLD. I just knew that it was gonna crack, Preach laughs.

Preachs wishful thinking proved to be untrue. A calculating perfectionist, Preach recorded songs and re-recorded songs carefully mapping out his raps and even the hooks performed by pretty young things and R&B thugs. But while he orchestrated his master plan, Straight Hits kept it moving, releasing projects by Oakland phenom Mistah F.A.B. and Filipina quartet One Vo1ce both of whom signed to the label around the same time as Preach. Although he was receiving monthly income from the label and was featured on both albums, co-writing a tune for One Vo1ce, the money was never enough. His raps reflected the life he lived and continued to lead to help support his young son. Although his album was almost completed, Preach felt like he was just keeping his head above water.

Then came the bad news. Before Straight Hits could release a project on Preach, the label shut down leaving him uncertain of what the future might hold. The opportunities garnered by Straight Hits had included radio play of his single Bad Misses, mixtape placement on the Bay Area Playas Vol. 6, write ups in Showcase Magazine, and the promise of more to come. Now facing an unknown path quite possibly without his already recorded music, Preachs focus turned back to hustling.

You know the pimp game and the rap game are similar, you gotta stay on top of your game and be prepared for anything., warns Preach. If you dont pay attention, one day youll look up and everything could be gone from under you. Your tricks, your music, your money, and your one chance. Luckily I still had my girls and other hustles, so I concentrated on that to get my money right.

After stacking his bread, Preach brokered a deal that allowed him to release the music he so painstakingly worked at. Armed with his music and money for mastering, Preach set out to find a manager. He settled with longtime associates and Bay Area entertainment fixtures Marcel Anderson and Meilani of MPRINT MUSIC.

When asked why they added Preach to their roster, Marcel and Meilani concurrently agree. Preach has the voice, the charisma and the experiences that make a rapper successful. Not to mention, his drive is amazing.

One would agree that it takes a charismatic person to persuade females to parade their goodies on the Bays city streets. And you could argue that it takes one of talent to earn two callbacks for the new Damon Dash TV show Ultimate Hustler. But what, besides unfaltering drive, could possess a person to spend his hard-earned money on an album that mightve never seen the light of day?

Mirroring the storyline of Hustle & Flow, Preach confesses, I just knew that there was something else out there for me. Something that was bigger than hustling & pimping. I didnt want to do that for the rest of my life. This album means so much to me because I did it on my own. I found all the producers, I wrote the raps, I conceived this from beginning to end. So when it drops I got this feeling people are gonna identify with me.

With a finished project entitled From A.M. to P.M., a connected management team, and steady money flowing in youd think hustling would already be a thing of Preachs past. Not so, Preach says. Everyday is a struggle and I gotta hustle my way through it. This rap game is a hustle. Just to get noticed, to get airplay, to get distribution you gotta finagle. My album is the result of hustlin. Like the title says, thats all I do from a.m. to p.m.

Yellas up bringing in the streets, and growing up from a boy to a man has inspired his music as well as his life long journey. This music game has given Yella ways to express his hurt and pain in this game of life without bringing harm to others. Yella is a very unique artist and his style is based after Cougnut, Mr. Cee, and Seagram which are all past underground Bay Area Kings in their own right. Yella takes this style a little further, and turns it into what we call "Dawg Wata."

Yella has been working hard and focusing on his craft. Having done work with a number of labels and artist. Yella decided to go to a good friend of his (Lil Frig) who was already on a local label called Ace high Records.Ace High would giveYella the freedom to be his self and set up a plan to potentially take over the Sacramento to Frisco scene. Once Yella signed with Ace High Records in 2004, he put his hard hat on with another new addition to Ace High (producer Normas' Child), and began laying the foundation.

Yella has crossed paths with just about all the heavy weights of the bay. Being a great performer is something he takes pride in. He has no problem sharing the stage with anyone. He can perform with the best of them. So as Yella continues on his journey of becoming the King of the Bay. U God brings Xcitement to boxing

U-God and Don King team up again for match promos.

New York (PRWEB) August 9, 2005 -- Music from hip hop icon, U-God of the Wu Tang Clan, has been chosen by Don King to rev up sports fanatics everywhere. The legendary boxing promoter has again included multiple tracks from U-God's new release "Mr. Xcitement" (due in stores September 13) in spots advertising the forthcoming Global Glory: Battle For Pride And Country event

The fight is scheduled to take place on August 13, 2005 at Chicago's United Center. Both the event's 30 minute TV Preview and radio advertising are currently airing multiple times daily featuring U-God's tunes.

This is not the first time U-God's infectious brand of thrilling hip hop has been used by King. In May, the marketing guru used U-Gods's "Mr Xcitement" to promote the Trinidad - Wright match in Las Vegas. The album was used exclusively in the 30 minute TV Preview that air multiple times daily on the Direct TV/HBO outlets for three weeks leading up to the fight as well as airing inside the MGM Grand Casino on their in-house cable system. The match itself was near the top of all boxing pay-per-view events, proving that Xcitement was definitely generated. Don King was so pleased with the promotional power of the song that he thanked U-God for the music in the national press conference.

With both men possessing an invaluable ability to command attention wherever they go and in whatever they do, the marriage of Don King Productions and U-God has proven to be perfect one. Fans of both should be sure to check out the "Don King Speaks To U-God" skit on Mr. Xcitement to get an additional dose of the stars. As the man himself would say, "Only In America!"

Rhodes Scholar Shu drops the most organic and original R&B Soul debut album of the year - SHUSIC

Introducing Shu the funkiest R&B Soul musician in years, recently featured in an internationally-broadcast television interview/performance by Reuters News Network

NEW YORK August 9, 2005 -- What do you do when two challenging opportunities are presented to you at once? Study at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar or release the funkiest Soul music album in years? Shu, an amazingly talented singer, songwriter, and pianist, chose to seize both!

While completing a Master's thesis at Oxford University in England as a Rhodes Scholar, the Kenyan-born musician made the time to launch his R&B, soul album "SHUSIC," that combines the percussive rhythms of his homeland, with modern day acoustic soul. Recorded in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the album is heartfelt and ambitious, and the critics agree:

Soul singer Shu's sound has been dubbed "a little bit Stevie Wonder, a little bit Marvin Gaye," but he's determined to blaze his own musical path.
-Samira Nanda Reuters News Network

"I got drunk on the heady delights of each individual song...Shu is an undeniable talent...with so much to look forward to."
-Dormouse - AlterEgo Magazine

"Outstanding lyrics and originality... [His influences] blend and clash in Shu's music without robbing it of his individuality... [Shu is] in a class of his own."
-Evan Mwangi - The Daily Nation

"Shu is a soulful, organic, original voice on the music scene. He has the ability to reach the intellectual, sophisticated listener, and the down home crowd. His new CD "SHUSIC" is one of the most soulful, provocative works to have come out this year. The CD is one of the best of 2005."
-Kody Emmanuel, Producer - WBAI Radio

"Hopefully, others will catch on fast..."
-Taxi, worldwide A & R Company

In the studio, Shu worked with some industry heavy weights as well as other rising artists.

"It was a very organic experience and I was fortunate enough to collaborate with some amazing musicians, like Myron (and producing partner Josh Honigstock) who used to work with Dru Hill back in the day, and Dave Tozer who's worked with John Legend and Snoop and Kanye (West), and J. Marty who's a young, creative hip-hop beat-maker in New York that's worked with Lumidee, Shu said.

Just being in that space with them helped make it a reality. Before I left for Oxford, It took about three months of going into the studio, and then two months of working my day job so I could make more money to pay for the rest of the studio time!" quips Shu, reliving the challenge of recording an independent album.

Shu grew up in Nairobi, Kenya, with his fathers guitar and simple Swahili love songs serving as his first musical backdrop. At the age of seven, he began training as a classical pianist, going on to win numerous national awards. At only 24, Shu is making a name in academia as a Rhodes Scholar, and now in entertainment where he has been named a top songwriter by Billboard, playing to sold out audiences in the States and Europe. He has quickly become known and loved for his energizing, virtuosic and heart-felt performances.

ACLU Sues School District Over Expulsion of Middle School Rapper for Lyrics

ACLU, Student and Parents to Hold Press Conference Today at 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 3, 2005

PITTSBURGH-The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania today will file a federal lawsuit on behalf of a 14-year-old rap artist and his parents charging that the Riverside Beaver School District violated the student's First Amendment free speech rights by expelling the boy for rap music he wrote at home and posted on the Internet. A press conference with plaintiffs and ACLU attorneys will be held today at 2:00 p.m. in the ACLU's Pittsburgh office.

"School officials are not parents, and the First Amendment limits their authority to control what students read, write, rap or listen to in their own homes," said Witold Walczak, ACLU of Pennsylvania Legal Director and one of the lawyers in this case. "If this expulsion is upheld then it will effectively be illegal for Riverside Beaver District students to compose rap music, even in their own homes." Walczak noted that the student wrote and recorded the music at home, did not bring it into school, and that the principal admitted that the songs did not cause any disruption in the classroom.

The student, Anthony Latour, has been writing and playing rap music for several years. His parents bought him home recording equipment. Anthony's songs are fairly typical rap music, which include verbal challenges and "jousting" with other rappers and violent imagery. He cites as influences Eminem, DZK, Eyedia, and Necro.

While Anthony's parents are not rap devotees, they are supportive of their son. According to Anthony's father, John Latour, "My grandparents didn't like Elvis; my parents didn't like Pink Floyd; and even though rap music may not be my taste, as parents my wife and I support Anthony's artistry and passion for rap music. And it is our job, not that of school officials, to decide what music Anthony can compose and listen to in our home."

In late April of this year, Anthony was arrested for several songs he composed over the past three years under the charge that the lyrics are "terroristic threats" because they describe acts of violence. Although the juvenile court charges are still pending, the school district expelled him from school for the rest of this year and next.

The music objected to by school officials includes a two-year-old song responding to a classmate who had taunted him, a song written last fall describing a school shooting, and a rap challenge to another student who agreed to the verbal and musical joust.

The ACLU said that if school officials were concerned by the music that Anthony created outside of school, they should have raised their concerns with Anthony and his parents. Instead, said Walczak, officials went directly for the "death penalty of school discipline." To this day, no school official has addressed the issue with Anthony.

"Many people don't like or understand rap music, and some people won't like Anthony's lyrics," said Kim Watterson, a cooperating ACLU lawyer from the Pittsburgh law firm Reed Smith, who is handling the case. "But since these songs do not contain what's known in the law as 'true threats,' school officials and local police cannot make the music a crime simply because they find the lyrics offensive."

The lawsuit was filed today in U. S. District Court in Pittsburgh. Plaintiffs are Anthony and his parents, John and Denise Latour. The claims include a request that the court rule that the school's expulsion violates Anthony's First Amendment free speech rights and the parents' right to control and direct their children's upbringing. The lawsuit seeks Anthony's reinstatement to school and damages. The ACLU expects to file a motion for preliminary injunction requesting Anthony's reinstatement within the next few days. The case is Latour v. Riverside Beaver School District.

VERBALISMS began as a monthly e-zine in 2002 and made its print debut in spring 2005 subsequent to an overwhelming international online readership. What H2A does to redirect Hip-Hop is in direct correlation to VERBALISMS mission, so moving under the umbrella of the Hip-Hop Association was a natural partnership, says Wilson.

The online edition of VERBALISMS will continue to be updated monthly while a new print edition is being readied for spring 2006.

New Online Music Community Makes Splash in the Indie Scene

Struggling musicians make a break for online success by creating a cutting-edge community for artists.

Toronto, Ont. (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) August 8, 2005 - Fed up with how difficult it can be to break into the music industry, or even make a dime at it, two Toronto-based musicians have started up a new artists' community on the World Wide Web. This website provides independent bands and artists with a place to generate money from downloaded songs and assists them in keeping in touch with their fan base and gaining much-needed exposure.

Although music communities are nothing new to many online listeners, seems to stand out from the crowd. The service was started June of 2005 by two Toronto based music lovers, Mike Petroianu and Julian Avram, and is aimed at helping independent artists showcase their talent and generate revenue. Within minutes, any band or solo artist can have an online presence complete with tracks, photos, event listings and online store.

The difference between and other similar services is the potential given to the artist to generate revenue. Should a listener choose to download a song, the artist will make 70 cents. On top of that, members interested in selling merchandise can take advantage of the online store option and keep 100 percent of the profits.

"We set out to create a service that caters to musicians' needs more than the businessman's pocket," said Mike Petroianu, co-founder of and drummer for St. Anthony's Fire. "We wanted to give the artist the option of selling their music or giving it away for free."

This approach to promoting and selling independent music has placed him and his co-workers into a whole new ballpark - somewhere between giants like MySpace and Apple iTunes.

The service opened in June and has already seen plenty of success. More than 18,000 artists have uploaded their music and are being exposed to a world-wide audience. With a bit of cash in their pockets and a large online audience, the artists are left with one thing to do: keep chasing their dream.

J.C. Chasez from the musical group NSync, Bill Marquez CEO of the internet search portal together with famed producer Alex Greggs today launched an Internet music portal allowing independent artists and bands to sell their musical compositions directly to the buying public.

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) August 6, 2005 -- J.C. Chasez from the musical group *NSync, Bill Marquez CEO of the internet search portal together with famed producer Alex Greggs today launched an internet music portal allowing independent artists and bands to sell their musical compositions directly to the buying public.

With the proliferation of home recording studios, musicians today are producing radio quality musical compositions, however, with in store record sales plummeting record labels are more skittish then ever to sign on new acts. Record labels today will only sign on new acts if the act already has a large following and fan base, or demonstrable sales. This leaves even popular alternative rock bands such as Los Angeles based Manic Mind in a catch 22.

Enter, which allows acts to upload their musical compositions free of charge on the portal and sell it directly to the buying public. Fans can search this database by the name of the artist or song name. Other users visiting the site can search by Musical Style, Mood or a by means of a Sound Like feature.

Alex Greggs who has produced acts such as *Nsync, Ricky Martin, M.I.A., Quad City D.J's and Duran Duran among others, and who's work all in all has sold over 50 million units says that this new service allows new acts to get immediate feedback from the buying public while at the same time generate revenues for their hard work and talent. The buying public can sample, vote on and buy cutting edge new music with just one click of the mouse.
