Penuckle To Release The Sun Beckons February 7th, 2006 on Basement Records

In every genre of music there is one artist or few who bend that genre and contort it all while keeping its essense. That Genre is Hip Hop. The artist is Penuckle. Unfazed by the glamor and gleam of the bling era, Penuckle is an artist of principle and conviction. He comes from an era where hip hop had only one primary scene that drew from influences of the jazz and soul and classic rock genres. Struggle was still a source for drive and inspiration, rather than just a marketing tool to sell records.

Penuckle's music contains edge, vision, and just heart-warming melody. One listen to any one song and it paints itself on the interiors of the mind. He has done shows with celebrated peers of his hip hop culture and continues to build a strong force to be exposed upon the release of his Debut studio album.

"The Sun Beckons" hosts an eclectic, urban, ensemble of tunes with insight that only Penuckle can deliver. Production is snappy/crisp with rolling drum samples and a constant presence of Boom Bap that will rock any stiff neck back and forth with a smile. There are 16 trks of realness and character. Look for the Album "The Sun Beckons" to be in stores February 7, 2006 on Basement Records/SonyBMG/Red Urban Music.

Masai Bey Bio

In 1999 Masai Bey made his lyrical production and scratching debut simultaneously on a 12inch, alongside Cage and Space titled Paranoid Android, released in Englanc on DC Records. This would be the beginning of The Weathermen, which was at the time a production duo consisting of Masai and Cage.

By the end of that same year Masai contributed co-production (Weathermen) for a Cage single on Bobbito's Fondle 'em label and lyrics, including the hook, on a Smut Peddlers song titled "For The Record" on Rawkus Records.

In 2000, Masai was advised by Cage to give El -P (Company Flow) a call about possibly recording some material. After months of contemplating and meditating Masai decided to give El-P a call, which led to
Masai Bey's contribution to the Weathermen's, by this time a lyricist collective, debut song "Same As It Never Was" (2001) and his solo debut song "Paper Mache" (2001) on "Definitive Jux presents II".

In 2002, Definitive Jux rereleased "Paper Mache" as a single with two additional songs titled "Nonstop", produced by Masai Bey and "The Beginning" produced by El-P featuring BMS and Vast Aire (Cannibal Ox). During this period, Masai spent his days writing, creating music and recording in a studio owned by BMS.

In 2003, Masai Bey and BMS released an "out-of-the-trunk" split 12 inch single "Innersection (BMS)/Rapavenge(Masai Bey)".

By August 2004, Masai had finished his limited "Masai Bey's Goldmind" released independently. This "out-the-trunk" cd was greeted with a very positive response causing anticipation for a full length album with "real" distribution. This goal was met with the completion of Masai's debut 14 song full length album "Natural Magic Music" on Raptivism Records. With over 20 years of writing rhymes on his belt and over 15 years of "mic experience", Masai Bey has performed on many stages from NY to NJ, Penn., Ct., RI, DC, and has shared stages with Company Flow, Cannibal Ox, Cage, El Da Sensai, Immortal Technique, Kice, Mr. Lif, C-Rayz, L.I.F.E. LONG, Lo Deck, Kool Kim (UMC"S), The Presence, Bully Mouth, Diamond J (EPMD), Jedi Mind Tricks and many more.

Big Sty Reps Richmond, Virginia With Heartfelt Tribute -- New Album, New Single

Big Sty opens doors For Virginia talent -- Richmond MC delivers powerful tribute to New Orleans.

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) January 25, 2006 -- Virginia has birthed some of the greatest superstars in today's urban music scene, including Missy Elliott, Pharrell and The Neptunes, D'Angelo, and Timbaland. With the fairly recent trend of Southern Hip Hop being at the forefront of popular music, tastemakers are beginning to discover that there is a wealth of talent still bubbling in Virginia. Richmond emcee Big Sty is at the forefront of the next movement, taking his clever songwriting abilities and masterful lyricism to every new fan he can reach. After building a buzz for himself in 2004 with the song "It's A Problem", Sty is making waves with his new song "Cry For Us" and is preparing to release his full-length debut album, Stycology, in April 2006.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, millions of Americans were touched, whether directly or indirectly, by the effects of the fatal storm. Big Sty found inspiration for his new song Cry For Us through his friends. I was on the road doing promotional a gig, he explains. I passed through Dallas, and a friend of mine who was with me had family members that had just relocated from New Orleans. I had a chance to talk to them and see the whole struggle they were going through with getting situated. Hearing the story from their mouths prompted me to do the song. Big Sty teamed with his labelmate, R&B singer Deshara Renee, to compose the endearing "Cry For Us" which speaks candidly on the situation. Everyone can listen to the song at

As the Stycology album is being completed, Richmond-based label Accurate Music Group is standing behind Big Sty's vision. Rather than use his many connections in the industry to grab big name guest spots for the LP, Sty is giving opportunities to his fellow Virginia artists to showcase their talents. Commissioner Wigg, Boog in the Hood, Jimmy Boon, Ruin, and Chief all make appearances on Stycology, as do Richmond producers Tetris, Absolut, J.B. Easy, DJ Mark, and J.K. Miller. People keep saying keep it real or keep it gangsta," says Big Sty. "Im keeping it authentically me.

MTV Announces New, Creative Organizational Structure

New Structure Enhances Music Network's Ability to Develop and Deliver Dynamic Content for Audiences Across All Screens

NEW YORK and SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Christina Norman, President, MTV and Brian Graden, President of Entertainment, MTV Networks Music Group and President of Logo, today announced a radical new organizational structure for MTV that will allow the network to deliver even more aggressively on its multiplatform strategy. The strategy revolves around building an engaging universe of music, entertainment, news, community and interactivity that allows the audience access to content whenever and wherever they want across a mix of platforms. The new structure will optimally position MTV to develop and distribute the most compelling, cutting-edge, dynamic and creative programming to all screens, while connecting more viewers than ever to the music and entertainment they love.

Moving forward, MTV's operations will revolve around two new, highly-integrated ecosystems. One will be aligned around the development of short-form video, music and news content for linear television as well as for online, VOD, broadband, wireless and other digital vehicles. The other will focus on maintaining and growing MTV's leadership position in the television arena through the continued development of successful long-form franchises, many of which define today's youth culture.

In making this announcement, Christina Norman said, "When I returned to MTV last year, we had entered the broadband era with MTV Overdrive to great critical and user acclaim and were developing unique new wireless entertainment while our linear channel was performing better than ever." She added, "In order to continue strengthening our connection to young people in today's digital age, it became clear that we needed to adapt our organizational structure in the same way we have always adapted our programming to meet our audiences' ever-changing tastes."

Brian Graden said, "By elevating all platforms to equal footing, we have created a 21st Century matrix for how we will develop and distribute content and connect with our audience." He added, "The creation of these two highly intertwined universes within MTV will allow us to efficiently extend our world class content-development machine across all screens, as well as position us as entertainment leaders on all platforms."

New executive positions and reporting relationships include:

Putting music front and center will be Amy Doyle, formerly Vice President, Music Programming, and now Sr. Vice President of Music & Talent. In her new role, Doyle will lead MTV's overarching music strategy, as well as record label and artist relations. Since she arrived at MTV five years ago, Doyle has embraced the multiplatform strategy and has strived to find non- traditional ways to showcase music. She has pioneered many of MTV's music initiatives including negotiating with bands like Good Charlotte to create series theme songs, enlisting hip hop artists to star in "Real World" promo campaigns, introducing soundtrack guides on, shepherding "The Leak" for and extending it to wireless and linear, and migrating emerging artists like Matisyahu and Death Cab for Cutie from mtvU to MTV.

Peter Baron, Vice President, Label Relations, MTV & MTV2 is also expanding his duties by assuming programming responsibility for VOD, MHD and other emerging platforms. Building on their already strong relationships with the music industry, the MTV music group will represent the power of all the MTV platforms, working with labels and artists to launch their albums with huge resonance and encompassing all the ways music fans access music content. Baron and Joanna Bomberg, VP Music & Talent, MTV, will report to Doyle.

The MTV production group has always worked closely with the music group to create hundreds of hours of music television for vehicles such as TRL, DFX and Spankin' New Music Weeks. This group not only produces compelling television, but they also generate related content for Overdrive, wireless and Taking on the new role of Sr. Vice President, Production will be Tony DiBari, formerly, Vice President, Production. Also fueling the various platforms is MTV News which will continue to be helmed by Ocean MacAdams, VP, MTV News.

Moving forward, the music, production and news groups will represent one ecosystem which will be led by Dave Sirulnick in his new role as Executive Vice President, MTV Multiplatform Production, News and Music, formerly Executive Vice President, News & Production. Sirulnick will connect the three worlds together, streamlining and overseeing the creation of music and short form content for the various platforms under the MTV brand. Under this new structure, Doyle, DiBari and MacAdams will report into Sirulnick. Sirulnick will continue to report into Graden.

Partnering with Sirulnick will be Ben White, Vice President, Digital Media, along with all the great digital talent, Jason Hirschhorn, MTVN Chief Digital Officer, has brought to the table. Recently, MTV's content has extended further into the wireless space with new partners such as Amp'd and Verizon Wireless.

In broadband, Ben and his team's leadership in the development of MTV Overdrive were essential and since launch, have overseen an increase of more than 826% in video streams. He and his team have also transformed into an immersive entertainment experience that not only compliments on-air programming but has unique content created solely for the web. Ben will report to Sirulnick on content.

While Sirulnick's team is focused on music, short form content, news and new platforms, a parallel team will be solely dedicated to propelling the already thriving linear television business with half-hour and one-hour hits, primarily for MTV's 10 Spot and afternoons. Lois Curren, in her new role as Executive Vice President, MTV Series Entertainment and Programming and the person behind such groundbreaking series as "The Osbournes," "Newlyweds," "Punk'd" and "Meet the Barkers" will now be charged with all long-form television development and programming for MTV. Previously Curren, as EVP, Series Development, had overseen West Coast TV development only. Many of the shows under Curren's auspices have been among the highest rated series in channel history, and much of MTV's recent ratings success can be directly linked to her continuous string of white hot hits that have dominated the water cooler buzz. Curren will continue to report into Graden.

Tony DiSanto, formerly Senior Vice President, Production, Development & Animation, has now been promoted to Executive Vice President, Series Development & Animation. In addition to continuing to create long form series for MTV, DiSanto will expand his responsibilities to become Head of Programming for MTV2. Senior Vice President, Programming for MTV2, Carol Eng, who has been managing MTV2's amazing evolution to date, will now report into DiSanto. DiSanto, who has risen up the ranks of MTV during his 16 year tenure at the company, has recently been responsible for such successful series as "Laguna Beach," "The Andy Milonakis Show," "Run's House" and "Wild N Out." DiSanto will now report into Curren on MTV and David Cohn, MTV2's General Manager, on MTV2.

Knitting together these interdependent areas will be Paul DeBenedittis, formerly Senior Vice President, Program Planning & Scheduling, and now Executive Vice President, Multiplatform Programming, Content Strategy and Scheduling. DeBenedittis will be responsible for strategically programming and scheduling MTV's short-form and long-form content on the appropriate platform. Already deeply entrenched in this new method of programming, DeBenedittis will serve as the connective tissue that links both ecosystems. In this role, DeBenedittis will share a report into both Sirulnick and Curren.

Twenty five years ago, MTV helped revolutionize TV by celebrating short form content. Promos were true art and entertainment in their own right. Today, marketing is increasingly becoming content. As Executive Vice President of Marketing and Multiplatform Creative, formerly EVP Marketing, Tina Exarhos will continue to manage all marketing and branding efforts for MTV's long form programming, as well as redefining how we creatively market music and series in a multiplatform era. She and her team will now also extend their expertise to develop and produce compelling short-form content across all screens. Exarhos will continue to report to Christina Norman.

Commenting on the new MTV structure, Van Toffler, President of the MTV Networks Music/Logo/Films Group concluded, "MTV is a brand that continually reinvents itself along with the tastes and behavioral shifts of its audience." He added, "This new way of aligning creative talent to tee-up linear and non-linear entertainment for the audience will enable MTV to break through the clutter, launch new music superstars and develop for platforms not yet created."

MTV Networks, a unit of Viacom Inc. (NYSE:VIA) (NYSE:VIA.B) , is one of the world's leading creators of programming and content across all media platforms. MTV Networks, with more than 100 channels worldwide, owns and operates the following television programming services -- MTV: MUSIC TELEVISION, MTV2, VH1, mtvU, NICKELODEON, NICK at NITE, COMEDY CENTRAL, TV LAND, SPIKE TV, CMT, NOGGIN, LOGO, MTVN INTERNATIONAL and THE DIGITAL SUITE FROM MTV NETWORKS, a package of 13 digital services, all of these brands are trademarks of MTV Networks. (PRWEB) January 25, 2006 -- PixelSounds.Com Launched 25rd January 2006.

On what is officially the 'most depressing day of the year' a new website promises to bring some musical joy during the dark winter months. PixelSounds.Com, launched by 2 London music fans John Peter and Mark O'Maile, provides space for independent and unsigned bands or musicians to showcase their work.

Unlike other similar sites PixelSounds.Com presents the artists as 30 by 30 pixel 'blocks' on the webpage. Each block, when clicked, opens a webpage with music downloads, pictures and information about the band.

According to John, 'This website is like a box of chocolates - each link will lead to a totally new musical experience. Web surfers will have their tastes challenged and will not be constrained by listening to their own genre of music only.'

The product is user friendly, performs at a rate similar to television on your mobile device, can be used anywhere and on most mobile networks throughout the world, and in my opinion, may be one of the sexiest new product offerings seen in a long time. While broadcasting live content and programming will be our main focus, we are also in the process of exploring the development of other more customized solution applications for businesses that do a lot of direct selling of their products to their customer base."

While many of this project's details are still veiled, RMD Entertainment has recently announced strategic partnerships with industry giants Wechtech and eWAN 1. Partnerships like this will streamline development of the overall project as well as bolster the mobile network set to launch with the software itself.

Furry iPods Become Big Business For California Woman

A resourceful entrepreneur in Northern Calfornia turned a simple idea into a successful business. Debbie Ann, of Novato California, had the idea a year ago to make furry handmade slipcases for iPod MP3 players and went into production the same day.

/24-7PressRelease/ - NOVATO, CA, January 25, 2006 - Debbie Ann is living the American Dream realized thanks to Apple and their hugely successful line of ever-changing iPods. The iPod has spurred on an entire cottage industry for creative business minds. The idea literally popped into her mind one day after making one too many dog sweaters that her dog refused to wear. "What could I make that would be easy and simple and yet would really take off and be popular? As soon as I thought those words, the idea came to me and the light bulb went off over my head. I made my first iPod case that day and haven't looked back," Debbie Ann reports.

The Hotromz line of iPod cases range from functional to cute and silly. Either way, they are popular and have created a trend for unique never-before-seen cases. From "Pinkie Pod" to "Goth Elvis" to "Pink Poodle" these cases have a certain, almost unidentifiable, appeal. Sales have skyrocketed and Debbie Ann reports she hardly can keep up with demand for the "little critters". "I've had to hire assistants and streamlined a production method to ensure timely delivery of all orders," she reports.

"Unique" is the key and Debbie Ann believes the market for mass-produced accessories made in China is saturated. Increasingly, iPod owners want products that appeal to their sense of uniqueness and personality. Hotromz fits that need perfectly.

She wonders how long she will be able to work solely from her her 3000 sq ft Marin County home. Sales have dramatically increased and show no signs of slowing down. Hotromz is the success story of 2006. "I love it. Every day I get up and know that my work schedule and my life is my own. I love Apple and the iPod. I own one of each iPod model. I created an entire business out of nothing and it's a blast!".

Her Hotromz iPod cases are sold worldwide in boutiques and stores in the United Kingdom, Paris, Singapore, Japan and New York. She also sells direct on her website to a selective and growing iPod clientele who are delight in the furry creations. Made from soft fake fur, mohair, and organic natural fibers, these cases are not only fashionable but protective too, and there is a size to fit all iPod models including the new video iPod 5th Gen and the nano. offers a wide variety of wild and fun iPod cases. Original Action-Adventure Video Game Set to Ship February 14 in North America, February 17 in Europe

NEW YORK, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Atari, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATAR) and Marc Ecko, the visionary behind several of today's most respected youth lifestyle brands, today announced that Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure has gone gold and is on schedule to ship to stores nationwide on February 14 in North America and on February 17 in Europe.

Set in the city of New Radius, Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure features a world where freedom of expression is suppressed by a tyrannical city government. In the game, players assume the role of Trane - an unlikely hero just looking to get up until he realizes there is much more at stake. Gamers learn and master various graf skills, starting as a toy (beginner) graffiti artist and using street-smarts, athletic prowess and vision necessary to become an "All City King," the most reputable of all graffiti artists. During their quest, players risk their lives navigating vertical landscapes while battling rival crews, a corrupt Mayor and the city's Civil Conduct Keepers (CCK) all in an effort to reach the sweet spots of New Radius, where a well-placed tag brings respect and reputation. Gamers also find themselves with an even greater burden - to use their high-wire graffiti talents to expose the oppressive mayor and set the city free.

"Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure fuses authentic urban culture and multi-faceted gameplay in a way gamers have never seen before," said Marc Metis, senior vice president, marketing, Atari, Inc. "Consumers are looking for something new, unique, and original in gaming, and this game delivers it."

Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure includes a variety of star-studded voice talent such as renowned hip-hop artist Talib Kweli, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy, George Hamilton, Giovanni Ribisi, Adam West, Andy Dick, Charlie Murphy, The RZA and Michael "M.C. Serch" Berrin.

More than 65 graffiti artists have lent their signature tags and art to the game's urban environments, while six legendary artists - Cope 2, FUTURA, OBEY: Shepard Fairey, Seen, Smith and T-kid - have served as in-game mentors to the game's lead protagonist.

In addition, Atari and Mr. Ecko, through the support of Mr. Combs' legendary A&R skills, have assembled an impressive soundtrack featuring an array of licensed music and various original tracks, including an exclusive version of Notorious B.I.G.'s "Who Shot Ya," remixed by Serj from the band System of a Down; "Clik, Clak, and Spray" from Pack FM; "Book of Judges" from Pharoahe Monch; and "Getting Up Anthem: Part 1," performed by legendary Hip- Hop artist Rakim and Talib Kweli.

Developed by The Collective, Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure is rated 'M' for Mature and will be available for the PlayStation(R) 2 computer entertainment system, Xbox(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows. A mobile version is currently available through Glu Mobile. For additional information about the game please visit

World's Biggest Music List

What can you buy with a dollar these days? Well if youre a musician, and youre trying to bring attention to the fruits of your labor, that dollar can now buy worldwide publicity. Come be a part of watching a small site grow into the World's Biggest Music List!

(PRWEB) January 24, 2006 -- Musicians who are trying to bring attention to their work can now get worldwide publicity, for as little as one dollar. Thats the aim of a new website FOR musicians, BY musicians. While its still in its infancy, its creator hopes to see it become the worlds biggest music list.

I am an artist myself and I kept trying to think how I could not only get myself exposure on the internet, but also help others. That's how this site was born, says Don Shetterly of Tropical Hands, the main man behind This site isn't about what I think is great music or not great music. It is about what each artist wants to contribute to get the exposure they want. There are no editors picks or favorites. Everything on this site is driven by overall dollar contributions and the number of referrals each artist makes. That's pure, simple, and the fairest system that I know of.

By adding their CDs/Albums to this list for a minimum contribution of a dollar, the artist gets a place on the list along with a link to their website. In addition, it qualifies them for additional options like a sound clip link, a featured link, and placement in up to two categories for an additional fee. The list is ranked by total contribution, followed by number of friends referred, and then sign up date.

What we hope to become is the worlds largest library of music, with no limits, no boxes, and no boundaries, says Shetterly. While it will be fun to watch the rankings on the site, the real fun is in knowing that music that deserves to be heard WILL be heard.

Sam Goody or Sam Baddy? Supporting the Sale of Pirated Music

DALLAS, TX: Producer DAWGS DABATO and Blacklight Management are currently in a copyright dispute with the late recording artist Johnnie Taylor's grandson VERSE (Calvin Arterberry). VERSE recently released an unauthorized album, in Dallas area music retail stores, that was produced and recorded by Dawgs Dabato. The unauthorized album was released prior to the clearance of rights to use the copyrighted musical compositions for commercial release.

Dawgs Dabato's management is in the process of contacting all retail stores involved in selling the product. This includes stores such as Sam Goody at Town East Mall who has refused to cooperate with the request to pull the CD's from their retail shelves until the copyrighted music is properly licensed. To date, the retailer continues to sell the unlicensed music.

Founder and CEO of Blacklight Management and member of The Recording Academy (NARAS) Sheryl V. Glenn said, "I am optimistic that we will resolve this issue quickly through cooperation from the music retail chains and manufacturers without further attention from our counsel. Our priority is to protect our client Dawgs Dabato's musical compositions. If his music isn't paid for then it won't be sold in stores. We respect Verse as an artist but he clearly doesn't understand the business of making music. Dawgs Dabato reserves all the rights to his music exclusively and without his consent its blatant copyright infringement."

We are confident that The Orchard's expertise in helping the mobile retailers in South Korea understand and merchandise these diverse genres will prove invaluable."

As part of the partnership, Seoul Records will distribute The Orchard's catalogue through their existing South Korean digital distribution network, including among many others, the following brands:

The Orchard catalogue also includes music from such multi-platinum acts as Green Day, Coldplay, and Ray Charles from their early years, before they were signed to major labels. Overall, The Orchard's catalogue encompasses music from thousands of record labels spanning 73 countries and every music genre.

The Orchard manages a growing catalogue of more than 700,000 tracks, which it markets and distributes to all of the world's leading digital music stores, including eMusic, iTunes, Napster, MSN, Yahoo!/MusicMatch, and Real/Rhapsody. Likwuid Stylez Southern Belle scheduled to hit webstores on January 28, 2006.

Likwuid Stylez releases sophomore LP Southern Belle, guaranteed to shake up southern underground hip hop.

(PRWEB) January 23, 2006 -- It's a man's world, but women make it go around. So how does a female within the hip hop music industry, an industry filled with misogyny, make her mark without catering to similar images? If her name is Likwuid Stylez, she allows her lyrics to sell and not sexual appeal.

On January 28, 2006, the Southern Belle LP (2morrowisamyth Publishing ASCAP), Likwuid's sophomore album will be available at select retail locations and nationwide via internet. CDBABY.COM, ITUNES.COM, BESTBUY.COM are just a few distribution channels for listeners in search of the LP. Addressing issues such as racism, economic disorder, social and real life issues, Likwuid keeps the verbal material authentic, yet entertaining. With beats from producers such as DeRanged, WillPower, MidiMarc, IllNatured and Synistah, the symphony accompanying Likwuid's words are instrumental to the power behind each song. Not to mention there are a few special guest appearances: DJ Prince Ice, TLM, Sweatbox Entertainment, ConQuest, J5 and many more.

South Carolina's premier DJ Charlamagne tha God from Hot 103.9, reviewed Likwuid's landmark album. Please view below:

"Let me say one thing before I get into this review, Likwuid Stylez is dope. In an industry that is oversaturated with Sex, Money, and Drugs. Likwuid delivers a sophomore LP that is filled with Beats, Rhymes, and Life. Standout cuts include Rebel Song which is a testament on wax. I can see a gospel choir singing in the background while Likwuid stands at the pulpit rapping her verse with the conviction of a pastor giving a Sunday Morning Sermon. Another tough record is Trouble whoever Likwuid is getting at on this record does not want know problems, I'd be hurt if a female told me I was filled with estrogen! Hieroglyphics is another banger featuring one of the most slept on MC's in the game right now Hannibal, you Laffy Taffy Lovers might not like this record because it forces you do to something most music nowadays doesn't..... think. Overall Southern Belle is a very solid LP by South Carolina's own Likwuid Stylez-11 songs of pure Hip Hop delivered by a young women who when she raps you can hear her love for the music in her voice. Support a sister who's letting her mind and soul and not her body dictate her destiny."

The Hustle Heads Take Hip-Hop Back To The Future With CD Duky Dope Demo

By personalizing their music, it finds its way right to heart of their fans

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) January 23, 2006 -- The Hustle Heads were conceived in 1993 in the back seat of a Mazda 626, which does not get any more grass roots and natural than that. In a world of media overkill and everyone trying to be something they are not, the Hustle Heads prefer to push their music to new heights and reach back to their roots to formulate the kind of hip-hop that sets clubs on fire and gives the streets the rhythm and soul that it so desperately yearns.

The new CD Duky Dope DEMO is the result of endless gigging and countless hours to deliver what they term as Brown Noise. Bobb Mohommod and Aloysius Goldschmidt are the Hustle Heads. The gifted partners separate themselves from the pack and the mainstream by offering their listeners their own original interpretations of hip-hop. The result is a sound that young listeners crave to hear. By personalizing their music, it finds its way right to heart of their fans with no strings attached or unwanted commercialism. They are the prototypical independent artist.

The band comments-We consider our music an amalgamation of De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, & The Roots, because we feel these groups are more organic than most other manifestations of Hip Hop today. They are not afraid to push the envelope and are not constrained with trying to fit in.

Duky Dope Demo is bound to gain fans beyond their greatest expectations. Recognition for their work is found through their listeners although its only a matter of time before the music industry stands up and takes notice of the Hustle Heads, the hip-hop of today performed by the stars of tomorrow. Duky Dope Demo is available through the F.Y.E. Localeyez program, selected CD stores nationwide, and along with exclusive music only at

Outsourcing Music Production -- Sound Effects, MP3, Ringtones to Come from Ukraine

Outsourcing of skilled work to offshore locations is nothing new in manufacturing and IT sectors. Have you thought of outsourcing music production? Well it is happening. Low costs coupled with creativity and talents and broadband penetration and availability of superior technology seems to fuel the growth of Music production outsourcing.

(PRWEB) January 23, 2006 -- Outsourcing music production process is emerging as the latest in outsourcing. Recording studios have begun outsourcing the production of music soundtracks, sound effects, midi and mp3 ringtones to overseas destinations.

Among the first to tap the opportunity in outsourced music production is a Ukraine based recording studio, OSS (Outsourcing Sound Solutions), that offers music production and audio recording services to video game developers, radio stations, ringtone marketers, mp3 sellers etc.

Companies see outsourcing music recording helps them leverage professional sound effects to PC and PDA games, PowerPoint presentations, Flash animation movies, video clips etc. OSS recording studio also boasts the production of over 200 midi and mp3 mobile ringtones.

Outsourcing music comes in close heels with outsourcing manufacturing processes and software development to countries like China and India.

Recording studios that would specialize in Outsourced Music production are likely to provide a virtual Recording Studio where major music consumers like video games developers and software companies can create Sound effects, recording music, and processing sound tracks, digital editing, Music soundtracks writing for games, radio and TV, flash animations with sound, Synchronizing sound and video tracks and Midi and mp3 mobile ringtones production.

Better broadband connectivity, availability of talent pool, low music production cost and the experimenting nature of major companies are the reasons for the current trend in audio production outsourcing. The technicians, musicians etc at OSS Recording Studio are hopeful of producing sound effects and music sound tracks for major companies. They are now enjoying the bubbling life and activity at the studio.

Will OSS be the TCS or Infosys of music industry? It is up to them to answer. Their understanding and adaptability to changing conditions and music production scenario, ability to provide flexible, real time audio solutions, cost effectiveness etc. are the factors major companies look for. OSS recording studio has a long way to tread before we can conclude.

SONY BMG Film Partners with Nuyorican Productions on Inaugural Feature Film Project, 'Reggaeton,' from a Screenplay by Albert Leon

Production Tentatively Slated for Spring 2006

NEW YORK, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT today announced that the company has acquired all rights to "Reggaeton," an original screenplay written by Albert Leon, and plans to produce the project, in conjunction with Jennifer Lopez's Nuyorican Productions, through the recently launched SONY BMG Film.

"Reggaeton," SONY BMG Film's first feature, will be produced by Jennifer Lopez and Simon Fields for Nuyorican Productions and by Sofia Sondervan on behalf of SONY BMG Film.

Pic will be shot on location in New York and Puerto Rico with production expected to commence in Spring 2006.

"Reggaeton" is the story of Rob, a talented 21-year-old from the South Bronx whose dreams of hip-hop stardom are dashed when a run-in with local thugs makes him flee the city to hide in Puerto Rico with the father he never knew. There he finds love with a street-savvy local girl, CC, and discovers a new genre of music, a mix of hip-hop and reggae. The locals call it Reggaeton. Rob partners with his half brother, a DJ, and together they make groundbreaking strides and are poised to become Reggaeton stars. But, when a corrupt music producer "discovers" Rob and offers him a record deal that brings him and CC back to New York, a new conflict threatens his romance and his budding career.

"'Reggaeton' is one of the most original scripts we've come across since we launched this division," said Sofia Sondervan. "We expect it will attract a top-notch director and cast."

"This project is a great way to launch SONY BMG Film," said Andrew Lack, CEO, SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT. "'Reggaeton' perfectly meets our mandate to develop features that create a compelling blend of music and film."

Jennifer Lopez commented, "This script is a perfect fit for us because not only is it a compelling story with great characters, but it also combines two elements that are very close to my heart -- music and Puerto Rico."

"We are excited to be working with SONY BMG to bring this timely material to audiences," said Simon Fields. "The synergistic relationship of our two companies makes this a very strong and exciting project."

Janet Sales, Nuyorican's head of development, brought "Reggaeton" to SONY BMG Film. The deal was negotiated by Andrew Ross on behalf of SONY BMG, Bob Wallerstein for Nuyorican Productions and Matt Leipzig and Jordan Bayer at Original Artists for Albert Leon.

SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT has a stable of Reggaeton artists including Voltio, Calle 13, Alexis y Fido, Zion y Lennox, John Eric and M.R.P. as well as a label deal with the highly influential Puerto Rican imprint, White Lion.

SONY BMG Film, a division of SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, was established in August of 2005 in order to develop, finance, and produce music-related theatrical films.

St. Louis Producer Works With Hip Hop Hitmakers

DJ Crucial to release album "Test Presses and Dub Plates" with MF Doom, JUICE, Slug from Atmosphere, Jah Safe, J-Treds from Company Flow, Serengeti, MC Eiht and more.

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB)January 22, 2006 -- Its likely one has never heard of DJ Crucial or F5 records. Thats okay he doesnt take it personally. Based in St. Louis, F5 is a renaissance label of sorts, more interested in allocating their limited cash to securing the illest talent available than running a nation-wide media blitz. Since founding the label in the fall of 1998, DJ Crucial has been on a constant grind. Unconcerned with the industry-wide fallacy that exposure somehow equates to talent, hes spent the last seven years quietly amassing a catalog of underground hits, pressing them as limited-run 12s for the enjoyment of those in the know. Test Presses and Dub Plates is a collection of this material, packaged together into one continuous mix of timeless bangers, transcending silly industry divisions between the gangster and backpacker.

Notice first the F5 artists: Serengeti, Hi-Fidel, Nato Caliph, The Committee (w/Toyy and Jia Davis), Jonathan Toth from Hoth, and Altered States, all of whom have garnered national praise from no less than UndergroundHipHop, Giant Peach, Vapors, URB, and glowing reviews from the now-defunct HipHopInfinity. Next, notice the guest spots: MF Doom, MC Eiht, Slug, MF Grimm, JUICE, Rayna Shine, J-TREDS, and Rubberroom. Convinced yet? If not, pay attention to the man who introduces Test Presses and Dub Plates, none other than the legendary DJ Premier.

Crucial is as adept with the Technics as he is the classic SP 1200 and MPC. To pin down his production style requires searching that sonic range between Primo and Pete Rock. In Crucials sample-heavy beats, horns mingle with strings and Spanish guitars, snares skitter over 808 drops, and vocal samples are scratched together for choruses and flavor. The result is music that is both classic and revolutionary, the kind of hip-hop our collective nostalgia longs for and 2006 is lucky to have.

Test Presses and Dub Plates is an anthology of F5s existence, an album impossibly strong from start to finish, and to pick stand-out tracks borders on sacrilege. And though the song arrangement shifts from the local hero to the international star, at no point does quality falter. The album is a journey from head-nodder (Gingerbread Man) to thought-provoker (Without a Doubt) and back again (Coronation (Remix)). The journey reaches its apex with Crucials remix of J-Toth and MF Dooms Ghostwhirl, of which URB rightfully said, The only thing fresher than the original is the whimsical remix(5/5 Stars). The journey comes to a close with the ethereal Midwest (Remix) featuring a classic verse from the Rhymesayers icon Slug.

On a long enough timeline, talent will always overpower obscurity. Crucial has forged a tight bond with Grimms DaybyDay Entertainment. The coming months will see the release of MF Grimms American Hunger, on which Crucial contributes the bulk of production. And with new collaborations with golden-era heavyweights Large Professor, Sach, formerly of The Nonce, and Kurious, it wont belong before Crucials name is among the lights.

Test Presses and Dub Plates is just the beginning.

Add Some Cash Money Bling to Your Ring in the New Year!

NEW YORK, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Add some Cash Money bling to your ring in the New Year! Universal Records and Cash Money Records are pleased to announce the mobile debut of Cash Money Records. Master Ringtones from Cash Money Records are now available for the first time. All the top tones from the #1 Southern Hip Hop label: Lil Wayne "Fireman," "Go DJ," "Tha Block is Hot," and "Get Off The Corner," BG "Bling Bling," Big Tymers "Still Fly" and "#1 Stunna," Juvenile "Back That Thang Up," and many more. Over 20 master recordings in all from the Cash Money Millionaires are now for sale at leading carriers, websites, and mobile brands.

The timing of the mobile debut of Cash Money Records couldn't be better with Cash Money Records' hottest rising superstar, Lil Wayne, having just scored a breakthrough debut in December on Billboard's Top 100 Albums chart, coming in at #2 with his new album, Tha Carter II. Lil Wayne's astonishing debut is Cash Money Records' biggest-selling debut in the hip-hop dynasty's history. Although the label boasts many top-selling artists and achieved many multi-platinum successes, this current accomplishment re-affirms Cash Money's continued prominence within the music world. And the only Cash Money ringtone to be available before January 2006 is "Fireman," the lead single off Tha Carter II. The "Fireman" ringtone in 4 weeks sold over 150,000 copies! All of Lil Wayne's hit songs and many of the new songs off Tha Carter II are available now as must-have ringtones!

All major telecom carriers and mobile content providers are running promotions introducing the Cash Money brand to the mobile marketplace including Amp'd Mobile, Boost Mobile, Cingular, Moderati, Nextel, 9squared, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Virgin Mobile.

Cash Money was launched in 1991, with the Williams Brothers creating the New Orleans based company that would eventually become a national phenomenon. In 1997 the label inked a breakthrough deal with Universal Records, making the Cash Money moniker synonymous with platinum selling artists and ground breaking entrepreneurship. The hip hop empire has sold more than 25 million records since their inception, claiming an explosive array of artists from Juvenile, to Lil Wayne, to Big Tymers, Hot Boys and Teena Marie, whose new album Sapphire is due out in the spring of 2006.

Lil Wayne, who was born and raised in the infamous poverty-stricken section of New Orleans' 17th Ward, has become an inspiring symbol of the crescent city's tenacity, beginning with his rise to stardom in 1995. Lil Wayne was only 12 when he made his debut on his former label mates' B.G's True Story CD. Success with the group Hot Boys followed, featuring rappers Juvenile, Turk and B.G., with their 1997 debut album, Get It How You Live, followed by 1998's platinum certified Guerilla Warfare and 2003's Let Em Burn.

His first solo album, 1999's Tha Block Is Hot achieved platinum status. He released Lights Out in 2000, 500 Degreez in 2002 and his touchstone album, 2004's gold certified, Tha Carter, which featured the hit single "Go DJ."

The Orchard Launches Comprehensive Licensing Offering, Providing a Robust New Platform for Artists and Labels to Gain Exposure, Incremental Revenue

Orchard Music Services Leverages The Orchard's 700,000+ Catalogue for Film, TV, Advertising and Games

- Broad Array Of Services Include Licensing and Administration, Song Sync Placement, Royalty Collection and Copyright and Publishing Administration -

NEW YORK, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Orchard, the world's leading distributor and marketer of independent music, today announced a new licensing offering, Orchard Music Services (OMS). Primarily, OMS will help artists and labels to maximize revenue through placement in film, TV, advertising, games and other forms of commercial exploitation, and by collecting monies owed them worldwide on their behalf for the sale and use of their master recordings (i.e. "neighboring rights"). OMS will also leverage The Orchard's unparalleled industry knowledge and expert staff to research and clear digital content for digital retailers globally.

OMS offers valuable assistance for:

* Mechanical Licensing and Royalty Administration
* Song Sync Placement
* Royalty Collection
* Copyright / Publishing Administration
* International Label Deals

"OMS is a natural extension of The Orchard's mission to maximize exposure and revenue for the artists and labels we represent," said Greg Scholl, chief executive of The Orchard and managing director of Dimensional Associates, the company that owns The Orchard, eMusic and Dimensional Music Publishing. "Our successes in 2005, particularly with respect to licensing music from our catalogue for synchronization, gives us confidence that OMS will be a major contributor to Orchard's continued growth, and of great benefit to our artist and label clients."

The Orchard represents a growing catalogue over 700,000 tracks from thousands of record labels. Many of these labels have already enlisted OMS to consolidate and focus their income opportunities, and The Orchard plans a major outreach in the first half of 2006 to raise awareness about this exciting new offering.

"We have already started work with OMS," said Marcus Peterzell, president of sales & marketing for AWE, a member of The Radiate Group, the global holding company of best-in-class independently branded marketing services agencies operating within the Omnicom Group Inc. "We couldn't be more pleased with their industry expertise and their depth of resources for song placements in our work."

Among the services offered by OMS include song placement for synchronization in film, TV and commercials; royalty collection on all monies owed master rights holders from a digital sale, not just the wholesale price; and mechanical licensing and royalty administration to ensure labels not equipped to address publishing requirements for worldwide sale of non- controlled compositions can do so quickly and easily with a turn-key solution.

In addition, OMS offers digital retailers and mobile operators a one-stop solution for publishing research and licensing, one of the most complex aspects of managing a digital store.

Kelly Rogers, Director of Ringtone Management and Licensing at Mobile Streams said, "The Orchard's Song Clearance services have helped our business tremendously. They completely handled the time consuming process of licensing content for mobile use, and allowed us to focus on our core business: selling the music to mobile consumers. They delivered powerful results quickly, and we are very happy to continue utilizing their services."

Music Industry 'Payola' Settlement Leads to Music Funding Opportunities

$15 million earmarked for music education and appreciation programs in New York State; Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors accepting grant applications for The New York State Music Fund

NEW YORK, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors today launched a new grant program by releasing a Request for Applications for the New York State Music Fund ("Music Fund"). This program is funded by settlements reached by the Office of the New York State Attorney General and will make contemporary music of all genres more accessible to diverse audiences and communities within New York State. Grants from the Music Fund, which currently holds $15 million, will be disbursed to nonprofit organizations associated with music education and appreciation efforts.

The Music Fund was created when the New York State Attorney General's Office resolved investigations against major record companies that had violated state and federal laws prohibiting "pay for play" (also called "payola"). The settlement agreement stipulated that funds paid by music businesses would support music education and appreciation for the benefit of New York State residents. The Attorney General's Office enlisted the services of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors to develop and manage the grant program. Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, a nonprofit organization, is one of the nation's largest and most experienced philanthropy services and has developed or facilitated more than $850 million in giving over the past decade.

"This is a creative vehicle through which grants to well-established nonprofits will enable people from all across New York State, from all walks of life, to experience the joy of music," said Melissa Berman, President and CEO of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. "We're excited about our role in helping people of all ages discover emerging artists, sample music genres new to them or perhaps learn to play an instrument."

Grant applications from nonprofit organizations are due by March 31st; awards and a second round of requests for applications will be announced in June, 2006. For the purposes of the Music Fund, "contemporary music" encompasses written composition and performance of all genres, including classical, jazz, music from around the world that is based in living classical or folk traditions, experimental music, and noncommercial forms of popular music including alternative rock, country, hip hop, and others. Proposed programs can include a range of activities from any or all of the following categories:

* Creation of diverse new works of music by emerging or established
composers, musicians, ensembles, or bands;
* Live Performance of diverse forms of music being created by today's
emerging to established composers, musicians, ensembles, or bands;
* Media -- recording/distribution/broadcast through traditional or new
media of diverse works created by today's composers and musicians
(Particular emphasis will be placed on use of noncommercial media
vehicles); and
* Music Education -- School and community-based music activities and
programs provided by cultural organizations that promote skill-building
in, and understanding and appreciation of, music of our time.

Special emphasis of the Music Fund will be on reaching underserved populations -- those whose opportunities to experience a variety of music have been limited by socioeconomic status, ethnicity, geography or disability -- and broadening awareness of underrepresented music -- artists, genres or styles with limited access to commercial broadcast or other mass distribution vehicles.

Funded activities must take place in New York State and benefit New York State residents. Generally, funded projects are to be completed within a one-year period, but a limited number of two-year grants will be awarded. Further, the Music Fund will also consider from nonprofit organizations a limited number of special initiative proposals that address the music field's ability to monitor and maintain an open and fair marketplace for the production and distribution of music in New York State. Grant proposals will be evaluated by an Advisory Review Panel knowledgeable about the range of music proposed and communities throughout New York State.
