I've discovered that the layout for Hip Hop Press in Firefox for Mac OS X is all screwed up and that the box to add your email address forces the left hand column's contents down the page to below the level of the main column's text. If you're having that problem, I'm sorry. I'm experimenting with the layout but my efforts so far have encountered odd obstacles.

Queen Latifah Pays Tribute to Five National Finalists of National Women's Confidence Awards

Finalists Surprised with News in Hometowns Via 'Confidence Caravan'

NEW YORK, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, American "royalty" paid tribute to five national crusaders who have selflessly dedicated time and energy to local programs that build women's confidence. In a taped message, Queen Latifah applauded the five national finalists of a nationwide search to recognize women who project the power of confidence, and encourage other women to gain confidence and self-esteem, ultimately helping them live more fulfilling lives. The five finalists include Yvonne Pointer of Cleveland, Ohio; Mattie Palmore of suburban Washington, D.C.; Lorraine Bowman of San Diego, California; Jillian Bullock of suburban Philadelphia; and Kristin Bradfield of Phoenix, Arizona.

The women were taken by surprise at their homes or places of work with a visit by the "Confidence Caravan." After they heard the news, in most cases relayed by the woman who nominated them, they were invited to view a videotaped congratulatory message by Queen Latifah.

The five finalists of the Curvation Project Confidence Awards will be flown to New York City for an Awards Ceremony on February 21st, where they will meet Queen Latifah -- in person -- as well as the national leaders of top women's organizations who joined her in selecting them. The panelists include Peggy Sanchez Mills, CEO of YWCA USA; Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress For Success; Danielle Carrig, Executive Director of Step-Up Women's Network; and Pam Hardee, Marketing Director for Curvation, the line of sensual and liveable intimate apparel which sponsors the program.

"We received more than 350 nominations from around the country, filled with examples of how women are helping others to live more rewarding lives. While the entries were all amazing and we would love to recognize everyone, these five stood out as being both extremely inspirational and deserving of national recognition" said Queen Latifah, the brand's spokesperson, inspiration and creative advisor.

Each of the five finalists will receive a $2,000 grant from Curvation towards the program or cause with which they are affiliated, so that they can continue their work in building women's confidence. Wal*Mart is donating an additional $1,000 grant for each finalist. At the New York ceremony, they'll learn who the panel has selected as the grand prize winner, winning an additional $10,000 grant for her project or program.

"I credit much of who I am today to the confidence I was given as a child and the inspiration of strong, independent women like my mother and grandmother, who showed me the power of believing in myself. So I'm particularly delighted to honor these finalists, who are motivating others in the same way, and look forward to meeting them in New York to share the news of who has won the national honor" added Queen Latifah.

The five Curvation Project Confidence Awards finalists in alphabetical order are:

Lorraine Bowman of San Diego, California, was selected for founding EBEEC, Eugene Bowman Economic Empowerment Center, which is dedicated to helping women and children victimized by crime, by providing counseling services, education, victims' compensation, claim assistance, crisis intervention, and victim's advocacy services. She also founded Girl Talk, designed to motivate, empower, uplift, build self-esteem and teach leadership skills to teenage girls.

The woman who nominated her, Phyllis Lawson, who has known Lorraine for nearly 30 years, says of her: "Being a single parent hasn't been easy... even when she didn't have money for her family's needs... she still reached out to those less fortunate." She also cites Lorraine for being the first African- American woman in Centerville, AL, to own a retail store, mobilizing hundreds of young women to stay in school, and encouraging women to open businesses.

Kristin Bradfield, of Phoenix, Arizona, who was selected for launching GIFT, Growth Improvement for Female Teens, when only 24. A non-profit dedicated to helping young women grow into empowered, confident leaders, GIFT provides training and resources to programs that provide girls with leadership skills and self-esteem building.

In the words of her nominator, Deanna Prevost, Kristin "empowers young women to become advocates," "gives girls the gift of self ... by providing them with programming to enhance and unwrap their potential" and "never gives up ... knowing she's making a difference in their lives."

Jillian Bullock of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania (suburban Philadelphia), who was selected for her dedication to empowering women to be "Victors, not Victims" and for donating 20% of the proceeds from each of her "Fitness & Conditioning Self-Defense for Females" workshops to charities that help combat cancer.

Delayne Powe, the local woman who nominated her, cites Jillian for her "behavior as a role model, her dedication and commitment to serve other women."

Mattie Palmore of Alexandria, Virginia (suburban Washington, D.C.), was selected for running a women's support group for victims of sexual, physical and mental abuse; for encouraging even the most downtrodden to "feel empowered, with greatly improved self esteem and special confidence." Mattie's confidence-building women's support groups welcomes those from all walks of life, including the formerly incarcerated; survivors of rape, molestation and incest; single mothers and working moms, from inhabitants of shelters to corporate executives. Her programs help women transcend the kind of desperate circumstances this mother of four and grandmother of three once experienced.

Lorraine Spencer, says she nominated Mattie for "being confidence personified ... and for helping women realize that they have the power to take control, make positive changes in their lives and be victims no more."

Yvonne Pointer of Cleveland, Ohio, was selected for founding "Positive Plus," whose mission is to motivate women to become responsible and to seize control of their own destiny; being a role model for Cleveland Public School's "Girl Power" program; and for her work building the confidence and self- respect of inmates in women's and juvenile prisons

According to her nominator, Angelique Seals, Yvonne is "Confidence in Motion." More than that, Yvonne turned a heartbreaking personal tragedy into a one-woman quest to empower other women and girls, while making the world a safer place. She established the Gloria Pointer Annual Scholarship Award, funded by the proceeds of her self-published book "Behind the Death of a Child."

The CURVATION Project Confidence Awards are part of the CURVATION Project Confidence Initiative, which includes Curvation Nation, an online community where women who have embraced the power of confidence can inspire and share their ideas with an ever-widening community. Eclectic indie rapper--emcee Hype--releases solo EP, apathy irony agony infinity, an intelligent rap record about hope?

Album summary, sample lyrics, and information on debut solo release from eclectic indie rapper, emcee hype. How can an album called, "Apathy Irony Agony Infinity" be so hopeful? Think "Shawshank Redemption" for hip hop heads.

New Jersey & Pennsylvania (PRWEB) February 2, 2006 -- Eclectic indie rapper, Emcee Hype, returns to the mic with his debut solo EP, Apathy Irony Agony Infinity. This explosive and intelligent EP marks hypes first solo work since his demo tapes in the late 90s. Four LPs from two different rap groups, and several collaborations, span the six years since.

This EP also marks the first time that all of the production and beats were done by Hype. The rapper gathered all of his samples, produced all of the beats on the album, and performed all of the accompaniments: keys, guitars, and turntables.

Apathy Irony Agony Infinity is a fire-cracker-blast of an EP. With no intro track, the album explodes onto the listeners eardrums with the jazz-savvy opener, summer in the city. The album then spans seven tracks and twenty-one minutes worth of non-stop flows, gritty hip hop and unadulterated heart-on-my-sleeve emotion.

On his tongue-in-cheek, youre crazy too, Hype snarls, And its onmy heart on my sleeve on a song A few lines later he revises the former, adding, Im sick? Im only regrettin that shed leave, so I tore up the heart and wore a hole on my sleeve.

Hypes wordplay is dazzling. His machine-gun delivery and dictionary-dense lyrics rattle the mind in your bobbing head, while he paints the canvas of his tracks like a mic-wielding Jackson Pollock.

Its our personal, serpigo, terminal, final descent and if you cycle all the circles to the surface youll know what I meant. You follow through the hollow any way you wantits isotropicIll be waitin by the tree of empty bottles, vice in pocket. (Lyrics, please dont feed the machine)

Hype addresses politics and class on the Bradbury-inspired, burn em to ashes then burn the ashes. Other, more subtle political and social commentaries peer out from behind metaphors and dance in the shadows of the subtext throughout various songs.

Fashion is in and its clearly not the clever that win, its the Beverly-born-into-this-belly-T. (Lyrics, the world on a string)

Apathy Irony Agony Infinity is a collection of snapshots from inside of Hypes mind. He gives you the shattered pieces on each songdaring you to put them back togetheras he ravishes through memories and insights, pits the collective against the individual, and recounts love and loss. The album is dark and brooding, the tracks are eclectic, but the unifying theme is one of hope.

Think Shawshank Redemption for hip hop heads.

On the track youre crazy too Hype tackles depression, and paints a grim picture of his own sick psyche, but hope prevails in the chorus: just put the past on the other side of the river, push the button, blow the bridge in two.

The melodic we all bleed red is an anthem for humanity. Lines like, Vanity vanished the moment I noticed the notion that nothing is normal but people and oceans and mountains and space careen back to the refrain, it seems that were different but listen, he said, we all bleed red.

Apathy Irony Agony Infinity is not just a tight hip hop record; its good music with appeal that transcends genre lines. In spite of the title, this EP has an element rap could really use these days: hope.

'80s Rock & Hip-Hop Legends to Field Their Hits at Lingerie Bowl on Feb. 5

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The L.A. Memorial Coliseum may not sell it at concessions, but there will surely be some delicious "Cherry Pie" on the field during this year's Lingerie Bowl as '80s rock Icon Jani Lane the Original Singer / Song writer Warrant belts out his signature song, joined by those from the biggest collaboration of '80s hip-hop artists including Biz Markie, Whodini, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Chubb Rock and Rob Base.

Before the "bling" era that refocused rap on Benjamins and BMWs, drugs and thugs, the 1980s nurtured a generation of young artists that defined old- school rap with a sense of humor and musical adventurism. From the "clown prince of rap" Biz Markie to the funk/freak fun of Whodini, from "the first human beat box in the rap world" Doug E. Fresh to the lyrical innovation of Chubb Rock, these nascent artists resonated a feeling of optimism sorely missing from much of today's hardcore rap. Then there's Jani Lane, the Original Singer / Song writer for Multi Platinum recording artist Warrant, "one of the most popular pop-metal bands of the late '80s" (according to All Music Guide), whose multi-platinum album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich yielded the singles "Down Boys," "Sometimes She Cries" and "Heaven," followed by the even more popular Cherry Pie with its Top Ten hits "Cherry Pie" and "I Saw Red."

"We are thrilled to assemble a once-in-a-lifetime performance by some of the greatest hip-hop artists of the '80s and one of the era's greatest rock bands," stated Lingerie Bowl creator and executive producer Mitch Mortaza, president of Horizon Productions. "This musical lineup offers something for everyone and will bring great energy in accompanying the fashion show that takes place just before our players hit the field for the main event."

The Lingerie Bowl airs Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. EST/PST, offering a 90-minute sports and entertainment extravaganza live on Pay-Per-View, for $19.95 (check with your local cable or satellite providers for availability). The highly anticipated halftime special -- pitting two-time Lingerie Bowl champions Los Angeles Temptation against two-time Eastern regional champion New York Euphoria -- will feature bombshell Jenny McCarthy, supermodel Cindy Margolis, 1985 Chicago Bear greats William "The Refrigerator" Perry and Willie Gault, MTV personality Trishelle Cannatella, "American Idol's" Ryan Starr, model/actress Tamie Sheffield and Fox football analyst Mike Goldberg. Additional celebrities and entertainment components will be announced in the final week. For more information, visit

Three 6 Mafia Make Academy Award History As First African-American Hip-Hop Ensemble to Receive a 'Best Original Song' Oscar Nomination

Uncompromising Underground Hardcore Rap Group Storms The Mainstream As 'It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp,' from the film 'Hustle & Flow,' Is Nominated For Best Achievement In Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song) Oscar

NEW YORK, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences revealed the nominees for the 78th Annual Academy Awards earlier today notably honoring Three 6 Mafia, the Dirty South's most uncompromising hip-hop ensemble, with a nomination in the Best Achievement In Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song) category.

Three 6 Mafia's track, "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp," from the highly-acclaimed hip-hop drama "Hustle & Flow" (which won the Audience Award at Sundance), paints an unflinching and indelible picture of the gritty world of grass-roots hip-hop, mirroring in music the blistering inner-city turmoil portrayed in the film. "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" features music and lyric by Jordan (Juicy J) Houston, Cedric (Crunchy Black) Coleman and Paul (DJ Paul) Beauregard (aka Three 6 Mafia).

Written and directed by Craig Brewer, "Hustle & Flow" (Paramount Classics, MTV Films and New Deal Entertainment) presents a tough and honest look at the hip-hop underground of Memphis, Tennessee, the birthplace of Three 6 Mafia.

The Academy Award nomination is the latest in a series of triumphs for Three 6 Mafia, who've just become the first African-American rap group in history to be nominated for a Best Song Oscar trophy. It's also a major victory for hip-hop itself as the groundbreaking art form, as represented by Three 6 Mafia, breaks out of the underground and achieves bona fide recognition from the entertainment mainstream. The Three 6 Mafia nomination marks the second time in Oscar history that a hip-hop act has been honored with a Best Song nomination by the Academy. The first was Eminem for "8 Mile" in 2002 (he won).

The latest Three 6 Mafia single, "Poppin' My Collar," featuring Project Pat, is currently in rotation at MTV2 and BET and is the #3 Most Watched Video on The track, which was a "New Joint" on "106th and Park" on January 26, is currently the #2 Most Added record at Urban Mainstream radio.

The group has several upcoming television appearances scheduled including an episode of MTV "Cribs" (airing Wednesday, February 1) and an MTV "Wild N Out" performance of "Poppin' My Collar" (airing Thursday, February 2). Three 6 Mafia will be featured on MTV's "Jamie Kennedy Show" this spring.

The group's last single, "Stay Fly" is a platinum certified digital single and is currently #2 on the Top 40 Mainstream chart, #19 Top 40 Rhythm and a Top 5 single at Urban Mainstream.

More than 1.5 million Three 6 Mafia ringtones have been sold to-date.

Last October, Most Known Unknown, the latest album from Three 6 Mafia, entered the Billboard Top 200 album sales chart at #3 while also debuting at #1 on both the R&B Album Sales and the Rap Album Sales charts. The album has been certified gold and is rapidly approaching platinum.

Most Known Unknown once again upped the ante on Three 6 Mafia, whose previous album, the RIAA Gold-certified Da Unbreakables, debuted at #4 on the Top 200 in 2003 and the Rap album sales chart at #1. Da Unbreakables became the #1 best-selling album in Birmingham, Chattanooga, Jackson, Knoxville, Little Rock, Memphis, Mobile, Nashville, and Paducah.

Garnering a cult-like following since their humble beginnings peddling TDK mix tapes, the Memphis, Tennessee-based Three 6 Mafia personify the essence of Down South Hip-Hop. With an ever-growing string of gold and platinum accomplishments, the group has never lost its core connection to the pulse of the underground. Three 6 Mafia has had a series of successful recordings dating back to 1995 and the group's initial releases: the first independent release, Smoked Out, Loced Out, the first full-length album, Mystic Stylez (which sold more than 200,000 copies), and the Live By Your Rep EP.

Three 6 Mafia scored its first major label success in 1997 with Chapter 2: World Domination (Relativity), which sold over 800,000 copies. The group claimed gold status on the destructive lead single, "Tear Da Club Up." Even more success came with the follow-up album, When The Smoke Clears, in 2000. That album debuted at #6 on Billboard's Top 200 album sales chart, and has sold well over one million copies. As if musical success wasn't enough, the group moved into the video realm, releasing the Choices DVD and Choices soundtrack album in 2001. The Choices DVD has sold more than 100,000 units (which is platinum status for home DVDs/videos). A well-received follow-up DVD, Choices II: The Set-Up, was released in March 2005.

Moving at the Speed of Life,' Lionsgate's CRASH Earns Six Academy Award(TM) Nominations

Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Song and Best Editing

Lionsgate's DON'T TELL Nominated as Best Foreign Language Film of the Year

SANTA MONICA, Calif. and VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- There was a "Crash moment" at the 78th Annual Academy Award(TM) nominations this morning as Lionsgate's (NYSE:LGF) Toronto challenging and thought-provoking contemporary drama CRASH scored a total of six Academy Award(TM) nominations, including Oscar(TM) nods for Best Picture, Best Director (Paul Haggis), Best Screenplay (Paul Haggis & Bobby Moresco) and Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role (Matt Dillon). CRASH also earned Academy Award(TM) nominations for Best Film Editing (Hughes Winborne) and Best Original Song ("In The Deep," music by Kathleen "Bird" York and Michael Becker, lyric by York). The Company garnered a total of seven Oscar(TM) nods as Lionsgate's DON'T TELL was nominated as the Italian entry for Best Foreign Language Film. Lionsgate has now earned 25 Oscar(TM) nominations in the past seven years, more than any other independent studio.

The nominations capped off the first phase of an awards season of building momentum for CRASH, in which the film earned a Screens Actors Guild award for Best Ensemble Cast In A Motion Picture on Sunday after garnering a Producers Guild nomination for Best Picture, a Directors Guild nomination for filmmaker Paul Haggis, a Writers Guild nomination for Best Original Screenplay (Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco), nine BAFTA nominations (including Best Film and Best Director) and six NAACP Image Award nominations (including Best Film). CRASH was also named the best film of the year by Roger Ebert among many other critics.

Lionsgate launched an unprecedented marketing initiative by sending out 130,000 DVD screeners to opinion leaders throughout the creative community for the hit film, which has already generated $54 million at the North American box office and sold 3.8 million units on DVD. A Lionsgate CRASH television series reprising the roles of the major cast members is currently in development for FX Network.

"CRASH is that rare film that is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining," said Lionsgate Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer. "It defines the Lionsgate brand at its most daring and provocative and has already become part of our national consciousness. We are extremely proud of the film and all of the superb talent associated with it and, although we hope that today's Oscar(TM) nominations are the forerunner of more critical accolades to come, CRASH is already a winner on every level."

"CRASH is a story I have wanted to tell for 10 years, and we are thrilled that the members of the Motion Picture Academy have recognized its value," said director/cowriter/coproducer Paul Haggis. "Beginning with a bold decision at the Toronto Film Festival and culminating in a wonderful marketing campaign, the acquisition, marketing, publicity and distribution teams of Lionsgate have been the perfect partners in bringing this story to a North American audience. The Hip-Hop Association Partners with The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum To Present Elevate!: Using Hip-Hop To Educate.

A powerful collaboration is born that aims to help teachers bring Hip-Hop into the classroom with the 2006 Summer Teacher Institute

NEW YORK, NY (Jan 31, 2006) - As part of an ongoing mission to educate on the cultural significance of Hip-Hop and showcase its power to facilitate multidisciplinary learning both in and outside of the classroom, the Hip-Hop Association is pleased to announce that it will join forces with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to present the Museums 2006 Summer Teacher Institute, Elevate!: Using Hip-Hop To Educate.

Scheduled to take place from June 26 30, 2006, the Summer Teacher Institute brings K-12 teachers together with arts education specialists, activists, historians, curriculum designers, and performers to learn how to utilize Hip-Hop as a tool to educate, inform and empower todays youth. In addition to working with The Hip-Hop Association, the Museum presents the Summer Institute in collaboration with Cuyahoga Community College and the Center for the Study of the Arts at Cleveland State University.

Shortly after the Museum's opening, the Rock Hall Education Department designed the Institute to introduce teachers to the history, sounds and communities of rock and roll music. Educators who have innovated in the area of popular music studies have shared their expertise, presenting a variety of successful applications of rock and roll music, its roots, and its branches in the K-12 learning environment. Through the study of such models, teachers identify ways to use music to deepen their own students engagement with language arts, geography, history, social studies, music, and beyond.

This year, the Summer Teacher Institute will provide a forum for the most cutting-edge discussions about popular music, art and culture in the classroom using resources from both the Museum and the Hip-Hop Association, including curriculum models from the Museums award-winning Rockin the Schools program and innovative programming drawn from the Hip-Hop Association's annual Hip-Hop Education Summits. The education and activist communities have truly appreciated our Hip-Hop Education Summits. They have provided the opportunity to learn and share about Hip-Hop and its legacy of empowerment. The Summer Teacher Institute is a great occasion to bring this dialogue to a larger platform. Were excited to be in a position to aid in this process, says Martha Diaz, President of the Hip-Hop Association.

The program:
Projected to bring together national and local teachers, organizers, parents, educators, social workers, scholars, and organizations, the program is a forum dedicated to connecting Hip-Hop culture with educational curriculums. Past participants in the Summit have included Bakari Kitwana, Raqiyah Mays, Selwyn Hinds, Toni Blackman, Hank Shocklee and Dr. Roxanne Shante.

From 8:30am to 5:30pm daily, teachers will interact with internationally noted authors and researchers, nationally recognized educators, and arts education specialists. Scholars at the vanguard of popular music studies who make teaching a priority in their work will lead the way. Representatives of the Hip-Hop Association, local arts education institutions such as Progressive Arts Alliance, and the Music Department of Cuyahoga Community College will discuss their efforts to bring popular music and culture into educational settings.

A team of full-time teachers who have successfully used Hip- Hop to teach critical thinking skills, language arts and communications, social sciences, music, and computer technology will join Rock Hall education Vice President Warren Zanes and programs managers Susan Oehler and Jason Hanley in leading small-group workshops. In a format that encourages participants to share their own experiences, explore instructional issues, and begin to tailor plans for their own classroom work, the workshops will showcase interdisciplinary lessons, units, and resources.

Norte Zur Marbella group make music with a message, fusing flamenco with hip-hop and guitar with voice

Fusing flamenco, rap and hip-hop with guitar, percussion and voice, Marbella group Zur make music with a message.

Marbella, Spain (PRWEB) January 29, 2006 -- Fusing flamenco, rap and hip-hop with guitar, percussion and voice, Marbella group Zur make music with a message.

Born and breed Marbells, Zuri and Angel have known each other since early childhood. Growing up in neighbouring barrios, their friendship flourished through their common interest and love of music. Following different styles of music the two have met in the middle with a fusion of flamenco, rap and hip hop with a merger of well suited instruments; guitar, percussion and voice.

Its all music, commented Zuri, there are always purists and other people who are not going to like it but they dont have to, it doesnt bother us if our music is not for everyone.

Composer and percussionist, Angel, casually chats about his song writing, explaining that with the fusion of old and contemporary musical tendencies, the group aim to make a difference. Promoting freedom of speech and expression they sing about social and political issues around the world, base their ideas on the integration of cultures, styles and beliefs and in doing so, are proud to have the backing of Amnesty International.

Rap is street music, explains Angel, it allows you to speak your mind. I write about what I feel when I feel it.

Both Zuri and Angel have been on the Marbella music scene for many years. After playing in separate groups, they finally decided to work together on a common project and are now enjoying their new found success with Zur. Its all happened so quickly says Zuri I cant quite believe it when I see our Cd in the shops.

Angel laughingly jokes about their future fame, although the group acknowledge that this would indeed provide a platform from which to get their message across. They both agree that it would be a fantastic opportunity to positively influence younger generations and voice the thoughts and beliefs of many.

Having just completed their first tour of Southern Spain and with a Cd already in the shops, Zur have big plans for the next couple of years. Hoping to be able to reach other Hispanic speaking countries in the not so distant future, Angel eagerly took the opportunity to express his desire to travel and see the world.

Marbella close to their hearts, however, they vowed that they have no plans to leave.

Everyone who becomes famous leaves, we are quite happy where we are, says Zuri. We are not interested in living in Madrid. Being on the road is fun but tiring, its nice to come back to Marbella, its home.

Pugs Atomz Bio

He is Pugs Atomz, a dedicated member of Chicagos extraordinary Hip Hop scene. Since the early 90s Pugs has been out and about Chi City as a fan , graffiti artist, battle rapper, freestyler, party thrower, promoter, Radio/TV personality and the list goes on.

He came up the ranks in the traditional way, earning props from corner ciphers at places like The Point (south side gathering place for teenagers hungry for hip hop in the mid 90s) and Navy Pier.

1993 was the year he started a collective called the Nacrobats with far too many members to list but a legacy of artists making a name for themselves in their respected fields. With the strength of the collective, Five albums were made, numerous parties and battles were had and it pushed Pugs to take his music and art more serious.

His first solo album was Thanks For Not Rhyming on Galapagos4 Records. It boasted production from the Molemen, Meatyogre, Polyphonic and others, receiving a warm response from the underground.

The nineteen track album 24 Years Later followed, released on his own co-founded label Birthwrite Records with production handled by Yoda, PNS, Flesh O.N.E. and others. This album has taken Pugslee touring all over the United States, Germany, Paris, Amsterdam and London, on the bill with the likes of De La Soul, Nas, Talib Kweli, Cypress Hill, MF doom, RZA, El-P, Atmosphere, El the Sensei and a host of others.

Hip Hop Canada says Pugslee is most notoriously known for his clever wordplay and hungry delivery... [He] is the type of emcee you discover then slap yourself upside the head for sleeping on over the years... guaranteed to sooth the listeners ears.

In the summer of 2004, Pugslee teamed up with Audio 8 Recordings to release his third album Playing With Matches, a tale of the trials and tribulations of a Chicago tagger in the 90s and featured appearances by Seel Fresh IBC, Binkus, DJ Intel, and commentary from some of Chicagos top graffiti artist.

Currently He has just finished a compilation for Raptivism Records entitled Pugs Atomz presents CTA Radio Chi City Hip Hop. This cd is basically an exerpt of the Cta Radio show, he has been a part of every Wednesday night from 9-12am for the last six years. This is a definite must to any body digging the Chicago sound. Besides music, Mr. Atomz is an accomplished visual artist with work appearing in film/print media ("Light it up"), and also the host of Barbershop hip hop an internet and local tv show. (

Diddy plans his own Extreme Home Make-over called Diddy's House

DETROIT (PRWEB) January 25, 2006 Super Bowl Weekend, Sean Diddy Combs plans to throw the biggest Celebrity Bash of the year, sparing no expense. In order to prepare for this event, Diddy has partnered with Executive One to pull off the most elaborate extreme renovation Detroit will ever see for a 3-day event. February 3-5, 2005, Detroits Captains Bar & Grille will be transformed into Diddys House, billed as the largest entertainment venue to host a Super Bowl event in the Motor City. For an event of this caliber, The Captains Bar & Grille, which originally had a maximum capacity of 700, will re-design and extend its floor plan to accommodate 2,500 VIP Super Bowl fans. Preparations to host this event mirror those of a host committee for the Super Bowl. To ensure the satisfaction of the Diddys House patrons, a logistics plan, comparable to a presidential motorcade, has been implemented. Responsive to the anxiety that out-of-towners often experience when trying to navigate through congested and heavily restricted streets of an unknown city, such as Detroit, the logistics plan will include a non-stop shuttle service to the venue.

The weekend will commence, on Friday, with A Black Affair hosted by Young Jeezy. This exclusive all black affair will feature a live performance by UGKs Bun B. Then Saturday, Diddys House will host Diddys 5th Annual Players Ball. And Sunday, the star-studded celebrity bash weekend will culminate with Diddys Diamonds & Furs, where NFL Great, Michael Vick will be on hand to host and give away a mink coat to one deserving male and female.

A portion of the proceeds from the 3-day event will benefit Detroits St. Johns Hospital and the Coalition of Temporary Shelter (COTS). Additionally, a Mackenzie High School student will receive a scholarship, courtesy of Diddy and Executive One.

Sponsors for Diddys House include: Elite Car Company, Broadway Clothing and Manhood Grooming Gallery.

Diddys House (formerly Captains Bar & Grille) will be located at 260 Schweizers Place (2 blocks East of the GM- Renaissance Center). Shuttle buses will run continuously from Chene Parks parking lot (5 blocks from Diddys House). Tickets can be purchased under Diddy Celebrity Bash at any Ticket Master outlet including Marshall Fields and FYE, the Elite Car Company (313-369-2277), City Slicker Shoes (313-963-1963), Executive One (313-340-1419), by logging on to (search Diddy Celebrity Bash) or by calling (248) 645-6666 to charge by phone. Individual admission tickets range from $150.00 for general to $300.00 and up for VIP admission, which includes an all-night buffet. Elite VIP packages are as follows: $12,000.00 for one night, 22,000.00 for two nights and $28,000 for the weekend. All Elite VIP packages include 10 VIP tickets, a $2,500 bar tab, a personal menu selection, a personal chef and waitress.

January 27th, 2006 (New York, NY) KOCH Records and The Underground Railroad Movement are proud to announce the new release from Scarface and The Product titled One Hunnid.

Scarface is arguably the Souths most admired rapper. After his stint as a member of the legendary Geto Boys, Scarface went on to an extremely successful solo career in 1991. Since then, Scarface has sold close to 10 million records. Virtually every Southern rapper _ including Ludacris and T.I. _ cites Scarface as the authority in modern Southern rap.

One Hunnid is the introductory effort from Faces new company _ The Underground Railroad Movement _ and is the result of an alliance hes formed with two of the most talented artists that the mainstream hip-hop world has yet to hear of: Bay Area rap veteran Will Hen and Jackson, Mississippi native Young Malice. Wil Hen has been developing his skills with Scarfaces twin ear producer Tone Capone and his street credibility is built from his unique Bay Area flow coupled with his real life tales of being a street pimp. Complementing Wil Hens West Coast flava is a voice from the South, Young Malice. Young Malice proved to have the raw Southern style that Scarface recognized as one of the most promising voices of the hood. The Product wasnt created necessarily by design; its more so the byproduct of one of raps elder statesmen feeling he had something special on his hands.

And while as an emcee Scarface appears on roughly 90 percent of the songs on Scarface Presents The Product, he also joins famed producer The Alchemist, longtime Geto Boys contributor John Bido, and Oakland-native Tone Capone to man production duties on a good portion of the project.

Tracklisting will be announced shortly.

formed a mid 80's music group which would soon after
spread a new art called hip-hop around the world.

Run-DMC were responsible for rap's first top-ten
single, multi-platinum album and music video on MTV,
not to mention their personal accolades of the first
emcees to receive a Grammy nomination, be on the cover
of Rolling Stone and act in their own feature film, as
well as Run-DMC signing the first known shoe deal
designed specifically for non-athletes.

Sticky Fingaz, whose rap group Onyx with Fredro Starr
and Sonee Seeza has often been described as a harsher
version of Run-DMC, credits Onyx signing to Jason
Mizell's 'JMJ' Records in 1991 as the jump-off for
their now 15 years in the hip-hop game and over 10
years of movie roles.

The critically praised appearance of Sticky and Fredro
in Spike Lee's 1995 "Clockers" film is often credited
as what opened the door to today's flood of rappers
turned actors, and both Sticky and Fredro have since
gone on to star alongside such Hollywood heavyweights
as Tiny Lister, N'Bushe Wright, Dennis Quaid, Julia
Stiles, Robert Forster and Rosario Dawson among

Deejay Ra, who launched a November 2003 Run-DMC
tribute with the support of Adidas Canada, has since
continued setting up giveaways of Run-DMC "Together
Forever" greatest hits CDs and DVDs across campus
radio stations along with biographies of Run, DMC and
JMJ to give students "a dose of hip-hop history and a
love of reading at once," as Juneja described it to
KPFK 90.7 FM California radio personality Fidel
Rodriguez during a live radio vigil they held the same
year for the Jam Master.
